As Mickey appeared to be having teeth problems when trying to eat his food I arranged for Jan to give Mickey a dental check up. Jan says there are two of his three front canines have the top broken off and the third one may have to be removed, his other front canine was removed last year.. So Mickey is in the vets first thing (08.30-08.45) on Friday. We will submit a claim form for this stating the broken ones were caused by Mickey falling out of the Dog Wagon which he did again this morning, and the third one looks as though it is becoming loose. I only hope Mickey does not loose any more teeth at that Friday's dental, he will be in the vets for most of that day. So no food after 8pm on Thursday. Mickey fell out of the dog wagon as his lead was connected to the safety metalwork inside the dog wagon to prevent Mickey from going for a run down Clydach's High Street as he did on a couple of other occasions. Mickey gets so excited about going to our vets to see Jan as he really loves seeing Jan. Even if PetPlan agree to pay for this tooth extraction I will still have to pay £75 which is the excess on Mickey's PetPlan Pet Insurance for each different incident.

That's a good excess, Ted-mine is 90! Hope all goes well on Friday At the moment Merlin's excess is £115 plus 20% of the remainder as he is 10, Menta's is £115 as she is 9, both Mickey and Kelly's are £75 as they were 7 at the time this year's policies started. Kelly's due for renewal end of March will most likely increase as she is now 8. Menta's will be the same as Merlin's at the next renewal at the end of June and Mickey's renewal is not due until the beginning of December. Merlin's should stay as now at the next renewal at the end of June. The anti-biotics and Metacam appear to be helping Mickey eat his meals at the moment. I will miss the big boy all day Friday and be glad to get him back home after his dental extractions. The dental check up was free as all four of my Hounds are on a Health Plan, which involves a monthly health check up and Lungworm/Flea Treatments..

Dropped Mickey off at the vets at 8.30am for his dental. It was very strange going for our walk in the park this morning with only three Hounds and no Mickey-Finn. Will be picking him up around 5-6pm after the Window Surveyor has been. I am already missing my Mickey-Finn who lately follows me everywhere in our home, since I took him about his teeth which must have been painful.
I am very please with MPN's quote for replacing the Living room window completely and having six windows that open, replacing the Bedroom window with two windows that open, replacing the door to the Conservatory and fitting Yale locks to the front door and the Conservatory door. Total cost vat free this month of £4500 over three years interest free. Next door to me said Dunraven had quoted £4500 for just replacing the living room window after all the so-called offers and their credit was not interest free. I know both Anglian and Everest are around the same price as Dunraven. MPN is a family run business in South Wales that does not employ commission paid salesmen as does Dunraven, Anglian, Everest and SafeStyle. The MPN surveyor is coming this afternoon which means the windows, etc, should be all fitted around the 2oth March and my first payment on 27th April. The credit agreement has been fully authorised at £125 a month. The two front windows need replacing as even though they are double glazed they still have internal condensation on them, the conservatory door needs replacing as the bottom panel has shrunk, the locking system is worn out and it takes lots of pressure to lock it, key is now bent and will not unlock the door from inside the conservatory. I did ask about what the cost of replacing the conservatory roof as the present one allows heat to escape in the winter and heat to come in warm/hot weather but it was quoted as around £4500. A much cheaper way is for the outside to be painted with a heat resistance paint. I had fitted by Hilary's roof blinds which they stated would cure the heat problem, but it does not. I have had a long conversation with Hilary's about this and all they would say was effectively hard luck those blinds worked okay in our tests you must have heat coming in/escaping elsewhere. So I told them I would not be buying any more blinds of any type from them in the future.

Mickey's Dental has had to delayed until Monday as they had a emergency panic job come in that was started at 11am and was still being worked on at 3pm. So I went and collected Mickey, he will enjoy going there again on Monday with his check up on Wednesday. Our vet, his wife and two children are going on holiday to Germany on Thursday for a couple weeks.
I just got back with Mickey at the same time as the window surveyor turned up. Al four Hounds were extremely good again, just greeted him and then stretched out on the dog beds and sofas. Should be having the new windows and conservatory door fitted around 20th March (6 weeks time).

Collected Mickey at 5.30pm from the vets. Jan showed me the two canines he removed and one was really bad. When Mickey saw me he came up and cuddled right up against me. We took him out to the Dog Wagon where Merlin and Kelly were waiting for us and Mickey jumped straight into the Dog Wagon. When we were back at home Mickey went straight to his bed and is looking a little bit under the weather. It was a nasty op as Jan had to cut some of the bone to remove these two canines. He said all Mickey's other teeth are okay and just needed a clean and polish.. Now will have to see if PetPlan will pay for these two teeth being removed as in September they were inspected and were okay, but Mickey falling on his jaw must have knocked these two teeth such that they were giving him toothache. I do not think looking at him that Mickey is interested in food at the moment even though it is a soft Turkey and Rice with Joints aid included made by Berriewoods

Mickey slept all night, except for one out the back after I offered him some food which he refused. I then gave him a bowl of milk which went down a treat. This morning he demanded his food, in the end he had two cartons of Berriewoods Turkey and Rice, whilst the other three had one carton each. Then he went out the back again, very clean dog. He is now in the front room with all of us waiting until I take them out which is normally after 9am once the school runs and rush hour traffic have disappeared. I have been told by Jan to keep today's walks on the low side. Mickey wanted another cuddle from me so those two removed teeth were causing him problems. I will have to wash his bedding soon as his mouth has been bleeding slightly as he has a couple of stitches in it where the bone had to be cut back to remove the whole of those two teeth.

Check up today after Mickey's dental on Monday where he had two canines removed. Appears to be all okay. So hopefully no more vet visits for a while now. Especially the next two weeks as Jan and family are away in Germany skiing, they are having their two children taught skiing for two hours each day.
