It's worth taking her off the Canagan and putting her back on her old food and see if that helps stops the weeing, if I remember Origen is very high in protein - about 35%? If this is the same maybe her kidneys can't cope with the high protein, dry food and her age so she's drinking more and so having to pee more ... I'd certainly change her back and see what happens - you can go back to the food if it's not that. Oh and cost doesn't signify good value Hope she's OK J x It's 33% protein and 17% fat which I think personally is high especially for an older dog. That's a really good explanation Julie x I've just put Gracie onto Barking Heads Grain Free, 23% protein and she loves it and is doing really well on it. It's cheapest on Fetch!

Yes maybe I will have to take her off the Canagan. Her previous food was 27% protein, and Canagan is 33%. She also eats a lot more of the Canagan, further increasing the amount of protein. I am just hesitating to change foods again, as she looks in much better condition since changing to Canagan... Dog food is such a minefield!!
Anyway, vet visit tomorrow so we'll see what their advice is.

Does she drink more? I would expect her to if she's eating more kibble. What about mixing a lower protein food with the Canagen to use it up? perhaps try her old one as you know it suits her tummy. Or reducing the volume a little and adding something like rice or pasta to it? or veggies if she'll eat them.

Just a little update.
Blood test and urine culture test came back and no problems were found. The vet advised against doing further tests, as she said Lela seems very healthy and she didn't think we'd find anything by putting her under anesthetics and doing scans and x rays.
She thinks it's the start of Lela going senile, and recommended Aktivait. However, first we're changing her food to a lower protein food, to see if that makes any difference. So we're taking her off the Canagan (33% protein) and are starting her on Symply (24% protein).

Nell is on propalin for spay incontinence. They ran tests on her to make sure it was nothing more serious. It has been a miracle cure for her x

Good luck and hope things improve I thought that about Propalin until Maddie started to get aggressive towards us. Fortunately our vet was on the ball and after checking dates we realised it coincided with an increase in her propalin so we took her off it and put her on incurin instead and she is much better now. The incurin took a few wks to get maximum results. I hadn't realised it could affect some dogs so badly, she'd been on it for ages, I think the side effects crept up gradually

Fingers crossed, we haven't had any more accidents since changing her onto another food (Symply). We are also making sure we let her out more often, so that might have something to do with it as well.
