Thanks everyone.
He's called Rhubarb. He's a bit odd-looking in that his lower jaw extends beyond his upper one, and sometimes his lower lip tucks over the upper one!! One of the shelter ladies said he looks like Shere Khan from the Jungle Book - he's the same colour, too. He's the same as yours, Carol in regards to the Fortekor (a bit of a battle!) and RC renal diet.
When my husband and I made our wills years ago we made sure to make arrangements for who would care for our cat if we were both to die early, as we couldn't bear to think of him being back in a shelter, and so that is why I really wanted to help another animal who found themselves in that very situation.
Kay - I had seen your news about Guinness - brilliant, and I hope you are all settling in together. Were you in the Botanical Gardens a couple of weekends ago? I saw a lady with a black hound and I thought it may be you, but she was well wrapped up in a hat and scarf so I wasn't sure enough to run up and say hello!

Sounds like me-I look like Nanook of the North at the moment! Guinness is huge-hard to miss him:-)

Someone commented on the size of the dog (we were talking about greyhounds at the time) so maybe it was Guinness. Next time I'll say hello, and if it's not you bundled up inside then I'm sure they won't mind! I was waiting for my son who was doing the orienteering course at the time.
