Hey all
Can I ask for some advice/thoughts from the gap collective
Layla has thrown up twice this morning for no reason that I can think of and I am not sure what to do about it or next.
She had a normal evening, went to bed at 10 and slept until 6am when she woke and went for a wee, then came up and slept on my bed until breakfast time at 8am. Had her normal breakfast of rice and chicken, went out and had a normal poo, then came back to bed. All normal activities.
Then at 11am she got up and started the coughing type routine and threw up all her breakfast. All seemingly completely undigested. I thought nothing of it, cleaned it up and she settled down seeming none the worse. I was happy to put it down to a one off issue, then 2 hours later when lying on sofa she did it again, but only a tiny bit this time.
If you didn't know she had just done this you would think she was completely fine. Even down to her hassling me for treats as usual, which I have not given her.
I have just taken her for a short walk and given her some canicur tablets to see if that helps settle her tum but not sure what to do next. Do I feed her at her normal time 5pm with her normal food (easily digestibile fish and potato trays from Fishmongers range) or am I better off fasting her until tomorrow?
I have thrown the rest of chicken away just in case it was that.
Appreciate any thoughts
Thanks K

She's just thrown up again, just liquid bile this time Think I'll have to fast her. I guess we'll find out if that stain guard actually works!

Liquid bile is usually caused by an empty tummy. I'd feed her as normal if she were mine and see how things go.

I too would feed something nice and light in a small portion and see how that goes, sometimes a bug can pass in a few hours

I would feed her too, if she has too much bile she needs something to soak it up. I'd feed a slightly smaller amount and if it stays in feed her a bit more an hour or so later. I'd get towels round where she's laid just in case! Hope its just a bit of an acidy tummy. She didn't have anything out of the ordinary yesterday did she? Gracie gets one sometimes and the vet has given her ranitidine for those times - but we do know what it is with her and its not a tummy bug.
Has she been wanting to eat grass? Gracie does if she's got too much bile/acid.

I kind of assumed that the problem is her wanting to throw up, not the bile itself. She's actually been throwing up every 2-2.5 hours whether she has eaten or not. So that is 3 times today. No, she has shown no signs of anything different, that is why it is so disturbing. Will do as suggested though and give her a half portion of fish/potato wet tray and see how she gets on. I was supposed to be going out tonight to watch the football and have an indian, but have called that off. Hope this is a just a ploy to stop me going out, the minx I hope it clears up and is just a passing bug, I am away on business all next week and she is supposed to be looked after by my brothers family.

I do hope that is the last time Layla is sick - I too would feed her a reduced sized meal and possibly a little more later on.

I would feed her a small bland meal and hopefully she will keep it down. Erin is a sod for throwing up when hungry. Hope Layla is ok

I was wondering about this last night Vicky, we were staying at my dads and Tabsi was doing throaty "hacking" and then vommiting liquid and then wandering around licking the carpet, she was desperate to get outside and launched herself at dad's lawn not coming up from munching his grass until I eventually dragged her back in - right as rain otherwise tho.....

I have given her 2/3 of her normal dinner of Fish/Potato wet tray and kibble. Sofa covered in loads of old towels. Fingers crossed she stays OK now.
Thanks for the advice

Hope Layla keeps it down okay, when mine have had stomach bugs given them hard boiled eggs and rice seems to do the trick every time, Moss had the squirts for one day last week so did that straightaway and all fine, they are a worry to us these babies of ours!

it was rice she had to begin with, so not sure that is best to go with right now. So far, so good, been 5 hours since she was last sick, and 3.5 hours since she last ate. Fingers crossed

Morning update....
She slept all night until 715am!! Which is remarkable in itself as she has been waking anytime between 430-630. And no sign of any sickness. Yay
But I dare not speak too soon as she has just had breakfast.
I have decided to forego the usual chicken and rice in favour of fish and potato wet tray and kibble. I was amazed at how undigested it was after 3 hours when she brought it back up yesterday, plus vet had suggested I move her to this more complete food a while ago but never did as she seemed fine. So now seems like a good time. It'll certainly make breakfast preparations easier!
Anyway, hoping beyond all hope she keeps it down today. Will report back later.
Thanks for all the helpful advice

I feed mine 3 meals a day so each one isn't an overload on the stomach as one of mine has a very sensitive digestion. Small meals are best for hounds if poss. If you go to work you could feed breakfast, tea and supper. Also rice doesn't suit all hounds. Hope things are improving.
