Firstly, welcome to the forum - hopefully somebody in your area will see your post and be able to help.

If you are anywhere near Swansea my vet is very good with my Greyhounds. The Animal Doctors in Clydach Swansae. Also Greyhound Rescue Wales using St James vets in Swansea for all their Greyhounds and Lurchers. My vet is also a bone surgeon so any bone repairs he can do quite well, he also knows not to give Greyhounds/Lurches Vetagestic pain killer as it causes horrendous pain for at least 24 hours in a Greyhound/Lurcher due to their lack of body fat. If you are near Haverfordwest just behind Tesco in Haverfordwest is a very good vet on the road from Haverfordwest to Broad Haven, they also like St James run their own out of hours service.

Thank you for the replies I am going to my local vet tomorrow but if injury does not get better in the future I will try the one in haverfordwest as it is not that far for me. Would you say they are more knowledgeable for running dogs rather than your average vet ?

We've used Fenton vets in Haverford many times when we've been on holiday there and was very impressed by them. Greys, lurcher and heinz dogs!

Thanks again seems my vet is ok. They did an xray and seems clear so they assume strained ligament and have him bandaged up. He is house bound for approx a month I was thinking though as a runner if I had an injury slight exercise as in walking to warm things up and get blood flowing would be a good thing ? We are two weeks in now and the poor devil is bored to death so I may mention it when he has the bandage checking on monday even a few yards down the road might break the day up for him and get the old circulation going He is going a bit nuts in doors and a job to stop him zooming around anyway

Well the bandage came off after a couple of weeks followed by more rest and we are now at the point he has short walks nightly. Still carries the leg but when walking puts weight on it and when he plays it don't seem to bother him. But when he stands still he lifts the weight off it and lets out the odd yelp now and again. So must be quite some strain certainly can't see him going off the lead any time soon. Very frustrating for the both of us as he is dieing to belt around. We are 5 weeks in now I think and a long road ahead to get him to full health now I suspect Any one else had a similar injury with a positive out come ?
