We have had Colin 1 year & he has always been "shouty" on lead seeing other dogs .Harness &muzzle on. Great when hes up to them &off lead.Plays with 8 collies at the stables& no problem . Great off lead on hol beach with all from tiny to huge. We met big collie on canal walk &after initial greeting (fine) let off lead & all 3 dogs (our collie cross also) played . However on way back we met same dog & let him off lead to play &after couple minutes Colin went for other dog. Stood on hind legs &boxed it & barked aggressively.Hackles up. No damage but why did he turn ? Should I let him off lead again ? was it fear ? He is soooo different from our last (bull x ) lurcher. Sue

Go back to basics with the training and introductions to the other dogs and possibly use a harness and long lead so you can control the play. There may have been body language from the other dog you could not see yourself that he did and this caused it if he is normally alright. ALSO canal towpaths are very narrow and meeting head on can cause a different reaction than to in a wide open space ie he cant get to the side of the other dog and move away so yes this could have made him nervous and react.

Yes didnt think narrow. He usually leaps away & keeps well clear if the other dog warns him off. Got run off by a pug on holiday beach !!.He dose not seem to have any aggression in him. Bit of a wuss. My fault. He is on harness because he leaps forward at rabbits etc & seems safer.Lovely lovely dog.Not a bad bone in his body. He puts his face up to me & "talks" when he wants something . xx
