Very sadly we have decided to sell the Bean Machine . Some of you may know that we had a new human addition to Birdie Towers in December in the form of our little girl Grace Wren. Whilst we do have extra seats for the van it means she would be behind the dog guard. The dogs would only lick her but god forbid we ever had an accident a 23 kilo lurcher flying about would not be good.
Lisa has very kindly allowed me to post in on here as it would be brilliant for those with multi dog households and/or those that like to take their dogs on holiday or for days out as we do. If a Gapper buys it we will make a donation to GAP.
I have owned the Bean Machine for about 4 1/2 years and it is a Daihatsu Hijet 1.3 16v. The most dogs I have had in it is 6. 1 greyhound,4 medium to large lurchers and a medium sized terrier and it has plenty of room for dogs to stand and move about to change position on a long journey. It has 2 slide opening doors which is brilliant for getting dogs out at the road side and a lift up tailgate door at the back which is ideal to provide shade and shelter on a picnic or if you decide to use crates to get them in and out. At the back there are 2 windows which slide open so the dogs can get fresh air. I put curtains up for when it is too sunny so the dogs had some shade. It has only done 34,000 miles and has always sailed through its MOT which is next due in August. Insurance wise I have only ever insured it Third party fire and theft as both Mark and I have a car and the van is only for taking the dogs out for the day, up to the local fields or on holiday....oh and the GAP show . With 3 years no claims on this van and 8 years on my car my renewal was £200 so not expensive to insure. Having a small engine it is also economical on fuel. It is a nippy little thing and I have done 80mph in it but tend to drive much slower when I have my precious cargo in the back
I can't tell you how sad I am to sell it. I bought it for my elderly grey Alan as I had a Discovery before which was too high for him to jump in. We have had so many happy times in it with our hounds but I need something that will accommodate our changing family as our hounds are still very much part of our lives and we have already booked our holiday to Angelsey in June.
We are asking £2000 to put towards out new car which to meet our needs has to be the size of a ship
I have put some pics on below. It is currently stickered up as in the first pic which I took at the weekend as I used to be a Trustee for SWT and use to use it for fundraising but these will be removed for you so it will go back to how it was in the last picture. If you want the greyhound pic leaving on it I can as SWT is no longer in operation.
If you are interested please PM me x
