Hi all
just wondering if any of you have any experience of this. ... duke has had an intermitent very bad belly since sunday night. It seemed to have settled a bit monday and although still very loose there was some formation ish. Last night collected him from my sisters and she commented his gutts were still off. I brought him home and then it started. .. total liquid... and lots of it. I stayed up til 12.30 with him and then he got me up at 3.30. Put him outside and three further luquid explosions. He came back in and went to sleep, as did I. Huge error. About 6.30 I woke to hear him retching ran down and to a scene of total devastation ! He had been sick and there was liquid poop everywhere. He went out and there were another 2 explosions within twenty mins. The sick seems to contain something other than bile. Checked with sister who was less than amused at the early morning call. She said that the gang had ripped a duvet open yesterday but she didnt think any of them had eaten any. Thinking about it ( and based on his history of eating santa) I suspect he has eaten some of the filling. Hes booked in the vets at 11 but am just wondering whether any of you more experienced owners have ever had this happen. Am worried sick incase its toxic or wrapped in his gut . Hes very flat and its nt like him as hes normally a very bouncy bean. Daughter has also got v and d bug so its been one hell of a night !!!! Apologies if anyone was attempting to eat whilst reading this xx

The only experience I've has like that was when my Whippet Baxter first started with pancreatitis. He was so so ill and ended up staying in for two nights at the vets on IV etc... I'm not saying it's pancreatitis but that's my only experience of that kind of sickness/illness like your experiencing.
Hope it turns out to just be a bug and solved easily. Let us know how he goes on.
Xxx

Thank u so much for your kind wishes. Vet has given him two injections one to stop the being sick and an antibiotic. If he isnt sick again I have more anti biotics from tomorrow. She seemed a bit confused as he doesnt have a temperature. His tummy is sore but she didnt seem phased over the potential duvet eating. Poor duke screamed the place down when he had the second jab which apparently "stings". As soon as we got home poor dude exploded again. Just have keep my eye on him and keep fingers crossed. Xx

Hope they do the trick, that 2nd jab is sore, ours have had it and even Gracie made a little whimper and she is tough and loves the vets. Poor lad I suppose with all that's come out both ends it's unlikely that duvet inner would be causing a blockage.

Its fingers crossed time. To be fair if it works I may nip back tomorrow and see if the vet has any spare for daughter !!! Not that I would ever want to make her scream just need something now to stop her puking !!

Jet had similar symptoms last year which were diagnosed as gastroenteritis- he had the same treatment and recovered fairly quickly. It took about a week for him to be eating again properly and he did take a while to get his weight back up .Hope Duke's soon fighting fit and positive thoughts to you-must be hard dealing with a sick dog and child at the same time.

I absolutely swear by tinned Chappie for dodgy tummies, always have a few tins in for emergencies. It really is the best for getting tummies gently back to normal.

Hi all
Duke appears to be on the mend. Today is day two of antibiotics and I got helicopter tail this morning so we must, fingers crossed, be heading in the right direction !!! Hes loving his current diet of mashed spud and white fish , I have used chappie before for my terriers but didnt think duke would tolerate it as he cant handle gluten, wheat , rice etc at the best of times. However I am having to keep an eye on him as there has been no pooping at all since wednesday and I don't want him to explode. So hopefully that's one family member on the mend, just have get the other one right now !!! Xx
