What hell you must be going through . It is just heartbreaking when they are crying and the helplessness you must be feeling is probably unbearable. As she ate her food last night I do hope whatever is causing it has gone and she has turned a corner, feeling and behaving like her old self very soon Maryxx

You said she was circling and holding her head on one side - have you considered that she may have had a stroke? That happened to one of mine (not a greyhound) many years ago. She was sort of alright after, but a bit dotty. We just let her out for a wee last thing and she had a stroke while outside. Apparently it can be caused by a sudden change in temperature.
If she doesn't get back to her old self you could ask the vet if that's a possibility.

That occurred to me as well, hopefully hospital will be able to tell for sure.
If she has had one I have no idea what you need to do to help her over its affects. She hardly eats/drinks and getting her out for a walk is proving a thankless task and only seems to serve to make her more distressed.

Just got back from hospital, felt weird leaving her there. Due to have CT and MRI scans and possibly spinal fluid tap. Not sure yet if I'll get her back tonight or tomorrow.
Fingers crossed they find something treatable, she has lost 1.5kg in a week. My poor little girl.

Oh dear I hope ypu get some answers soon. My girl was to have those tests when she had a sort of seizure but was much improved the next day so didn't have to . It's not nice but as my Vet said it would rule out lots of neurological problems such as meningitus if they came back negative. Wishing you all the luck in the world and hoping she's soon on the mend.

Just heard that they are keeping her overnight, no idea if that is good or bad, vet will call me later with proper details. Place will seem dreadfully empty without her tonight

Hope you get some good news tomorrow. When Sapphy started with Polyarthritis the weight dropped off her by the day despite her eating more than normal. She lost 5k in 3 wks and looked dreadful. She was screaming in pain so had MRI, x-rays and joint taps. Meningitis was suspected but the spinal tap was left as a last resort and the joint taps were conclusive so she didn't have to have it done. Lots and lots of good wishes, I know how hard it is

She has meningitis They tell me it is treatable with anti cancer drugs followed by steroids, but it is still 50/50 for her right now. The vet feels she is young and strong enough to pull through. Have given the OK to administer the anti cancer drug tonight and will call for an update tomorrow. If all goes well will have her back home on Friday. Now going to, do a not very manly thing, find a dark corner to have a cry in.

Not the best of news, but at least you now know what you are dealing with. Hopefully Layla will respond quickly and well to the meds. Sending both of you lots of positive thoughts.
