Get a harness with a double ended lead and keep him muzzled until he is absolutely OK with dogs which may be never but better to be safe than sorry. I'd never use a halti or any other type of headcollar as greys accelerate so very quickly that you can break their necks or 'just' severely damage them if they 'hit' the end of your lead at full pelt with a headcollar/etc etc on Find the distance at which he can cope with other dogs that worry him so he can watch but doesn't feel the need to react and keep praising him and he sould/will improve. Toileting in the house can be a sign of stress and worry- try going outside with him and praising him when he goes and ignoring accidents tho obviously be careful to clean up with 'proper' stuff so he's not encouraged to mark the spot again .... A good book is Dominance in Dogs Fact or Fiction by Barry Eaton. Julie

Hello everyone. I am a new gh owner. The other day a small dog went past us and my dog pulled me back with such force I thought I had dislocated my shoulder! He had the small dog on the ground and I was frightened I would not be Able to control him This has made me a bit nervous and I am now scared he will slip his collar. Any advice plse? have you tried a harness aswell as a collar

My Brenya escaped from her greyhound collar when she was spooked by traffic and we were lucky not to lose her under a lorry! I use a Martingdale collar on her now. Its like a very gentle check collar that tightens when they try and pull away but doesn't damage their neck. We sell them in the greyhound gap webshop for £11.50 each. Using a harness gives you control of their body but I found it didn't stop my extremely reactive lurcher pulling and trying to kill everyone. I tried a gentle lead www.gentleleads.com and had amazing results. She's completely stopped pulling from the first time she wore it. I guess what I'm saying is not everything works for everyone so you may need to try a few things before finding the right solution for you.
