I did ignore her but maybe not as long as I should have, it's so hard when that her little face is so pleased to see you! She's been on a trial walk with the dog walker today and that went well so fingers crossed all will be fine tomorrow.
I have my trips out for Saturday and Sunday planned in, I've spent a small fortune this week popping out to the shops to give her some time alone - she's worth every penny though.

With regard to ignoring, that only needs to last a few mins just pop in the kitchen, put your bag down and put away anything you need to. Put the kettle on, get the mug and tea bag out and the milk and then sit down and wait for the kettle to boil and then call her to you and give her a lovely cuddle and fuss, it doesn't need to be an excruciatingly long time, just long enough for her to see that you are calm and normal when you return and that going out and coming back is no big deal

Most of ours sleep upstairs with us, they all have their dogbeds around the bed and sleep as long as we do. One of ours chooses to sleep downstairs as he doesn't like the stairs and has a choice of sofas so never hear a peep from him. Personally I don't have a problem with them being upstairs and love them being close to us, only one of ours gets on the bed at night, we never hear her get up, she is like a ninja and creeps up in the dead of night Obviously its very early days for your new arrival (congratulations by the way!) Hope she settles soon, they are fabulous dogs to have as pets. Hi there can I ask if your dog that sleeps downstairs on the sofa causes any damage to the sofa and if you were able to stop this behaviour? My grey loves the sofa and I'd love to leave her there to sleep but she digs her nails into the fabric and has ruined one side.
