As you know, Solo pulled a couple of his stitches out on Friday and the vet felt it was better to leave it alone than put him through the trauma of being put under again to be stitched back up. She said that it would still heal, and the antibiotics would prevent infection. I have no reason to doubt this, but there is something about the wound that is bothering me - the skin is not attached to the flesh underneath. Does that make sense? When he moves you can see the skin sort of slide over the top of the flesh, as thought it doesn't really belong to him and he's wearing it like an item of clothing! Is that normal??? He still won't leave it alone if it's exposed so he is constantly wearing a t-shirt, which thankfully most of the time doesn't bother him now, but he does try to lick at the wound through the t-shirt quite often. The wound looks clean, but is leaking watery blood occasionally. With him getting so stressed out going to the vet I don't want to take him back there unless it's really necessary. He has to go back on Thursday anyway to see if his other stitches can come out, but this is worrying me in the meantime! Not a very good picture because as soon as I pull the t-shirt up he is desparate to get at it, but it will perhaps give you an idea of it. The hole is about an inch long:

It looks ok Sarah. A few wks ago Maddie ran across the others when she heard a noise outside , no idea who retaliated but she had a hole on her shoulder. As it was out of hours I just trimmed the fur round the edge and cleaned it. It was like that, skin sort of sliding over the whitish underneath. I think it was a bit bigger than that hole. It soon scabbed over and healed up fine. It should start to shrink soon and gradually heal up. It will be slower than if stitched but I'm sure it will be fine. He's probably irritated by the stitches as they dry up but I'd imagine the vet may take the outside ones out first and leave the ones by the hole for longer so it doesn't split open. Offer stands re the bodysuit if he works out how to get up the t-shirt. Hope all goes well x

We (or should I say Peppa) get loads of injuries exactly like this and they take a while to start to dry up and heal but once they start you can almost see them shrink infront of your eyes. As long as you keep them clean (I use a t-shirt like you're doing) and infection free then they will heal fine (although he probably will have a bit of a bald spot) I often use Aloe gel to help the healing. I'd expect an injury like this to take about 4 weeks to heal completely, and you might lose a couple more stitches along the way
