Some of her symptoms are vague like she is unusually clingy and just generally not her usual feisty self, this has been going on for about two weeks.
She stopped eating for two days, then started again when I gave her fish4dogs
She took a bite out of Redge that required 7 stitches completely unprovoked whilst he was running in the field. She wasn't chasing him but as he came back to me she just went for him (Redge was a complete star and did not retaliate, he had his stitches done without any anaesthetic and without a murmur, he has to have his stitches out in a few days but he is completely fine:))
She then started to have problems with her back end. I noticed this three days ago when we returned from our walk and I spotted faeces and urine smells on her tail. On our next walk I observed her and she was definitely having trouble with curving her back end but also that she was not putting her tail up when she was going.
I booked an appointment at the vet who after examining her advised she has virtually no feeling in her tail. She physically checked her spine and hips but couldn't detect anything wrong (she was responding normally to the pressure).
She then did an internal examination and advised her anal glands were fine and her bladder also felt normal. She asked if there had been any trauma and there hasn't been, she then asked if she liked a swim because you sometimes hear of this in dogs that like water; but our Sal doesn't really like getting her toes wet
The vet seems to think it could be localised nerve damage to her tail and given me some Loxicam to see if this makes any difference and to keep an eye on her for a week and then bring her back.
She is not in pain; she is now eating/drinking normally, but there is no change to the use of her tail - it just hangs there.
Anyone else had anything like this?
