Speckle has been here just over 2 weeks now, at first her poo's were fine and everything normal. She was spayed last Tuesday and even since has had diarhhoea, not huge amounts but she gets us up at least twice at night and is really straining and not really passing much. At first I thought it might be a reaction to the metacam she had for the first few days after her op but she hasn't improved. I had her on boiled fish and potatoes and a few days after her op but its made no difference. I am going to put her back on it though as she isn't improving.
She's been having chicken and rice pouches with are low fat, gluten free etc etc. She's as bright as a button in herself but cant seem to stop straining and wanting to poo. She hasn't done a proper one since her op. Any ideas?

Probiotics? Have you got any ProKolin? I always keep some or vetuk's similar in. I've got some yumega probiotic sachets which have something extra in to firm it up if you want me to send you a few. Google them, they're good. Best mixed with a spoon of yogurt and ours wolf them down. Just pm your addy if you want to try them. GA's always upset Gracie's tummy but not for that long and I've found that getting her back onto her kibble is the best thing for it, which surprises me as I'd normally do like you and go for fish and potatoes. Hope it settles soon

Probiotics are brilliant, Bax is prone to poorly tums and its always probiotics that sort him out in the end xxx vetuk sell some different sorts, I usually buy the paste, you may need a couple of tubes. Xxx

Thanks everyone, Vicky is kindly sending me some as they will probably get here before the ones I've ordered. She's done another sloppy poo which now has blood in it.

In the post. Just remembered that when Sapphy had blood in her poo last winter vet thought it was colitis and said to add some cooked veggies to her food to try to bulk it out a bit.

Hope Speckle is better soon and it's nothing serious. Fingers crossed adding some cooked veg to her food and the probiotics will help in the next day or two. Good thoughts coming her way and I hope you get her sorted. Sian x

Sometimes they have an intolerance to chicken and / or rice so maybe avoid them too ... Fish4Dogs and others do rice/chicken less food .. If her poo is bloody and/or mucusy I think she must be reacting against something she's eating, often it's grain but can be anything Slippery Elm Bark can help but Probiotics are great to get the bacteria right ... All crossed it helps J xx

Good news for Speckle, although mine went the other way last night All had me up at different times through the night and left me horrendous presents. My fault though, I forgot to get their tripe out of the freezer for yesterday and had to give them their old kibble. It's amazing the difference a day's worth of food makes.
