Trevor had the runs for a few days, nothing major but last night was up twice in the night and today there's blood in it. He's bright in himself and wanting to eat, he's only had boiled fish and potato today but ate it with gusto. Its very rare any of mine have the runs, should I be worried with the blood? He's had his tea then gone out and done another bloody poo

I wouldn't worry too much Sue. Working at a boarding kennels I come across a lot of dogs with the squits for one reason or another and it's surprisingly common to see blood, especially if they've had it for a couple of days. A vet once said to me, don't worry about blood in poo as long as it doesn't carry on for too long. However, blood in wee needs investigating. Hope Trevor feels better soon

Could be a touch of colitis after the vets yesterday. Just keep an eye out, hopefully it will stop very soon.

Sue - can't help being me.Know that hounds and people are different - but I'd go on the safe side and ask your vet.Just know I'm obsessed about poo and blood.Just rings alarm bells - may be nothing. But if it was our 2 I'd want it checked (even if it's waste of time). And yes once again I can't sleep - which probably explains why you and Kay found me in my PJ's! Cath

What did the vet say? Gracie was really poorly the weekend before last vomiting blood and poo'd a big pool of it. Had bloods done which she's deficient in B12 and folic acid indicating problem with her small intestine. So now on B12 injections and probably needing ultrasound and can only have white fish and sweet potato ....came out of the blue. Heard of a lot of dogs pooing blood recently, you wonder if something is going round. Hope he's ok

Oops I though I had updated on here! Thanks for asking Vicky, he's a lot better now. His temperature was fine and I was given a syringe of promax to give him over 3 days. We called at the park on the way home and he did another bloody poo but it was more solid and he hasn't done one since. He's had a chicken breast for his tea which he really enjoyed so hopefully he's on the mend now. He did so much yesterday afternoon that it was starting to worry me.
