I want to know whether I can enter my greyhound x deerhound x whppet in a lurcher class at local dogshow? Or does a sighthound have to be crossed with a different breed entirely to be a lurcher?

A lurcher is a cross that has sighthound in it's breeding, therefore your hound is a lurcher. Good luck at the dog show

Strictly speaking a lurcher, at least traditionally, is a sighthound crossed with a working type dog like a terrier or collie but I think nowadays any dog that is sighthound shaped but not a purebreed is pretty much classified as a lurcher, so I agree with Jacqui you could happily enter your dog as a lurcher Your dog incidentally could be classified as a longdog (cross-breeding of sighthounds only).

Thank you all for your information. We had lots of fun but, shockingly, did not win any rosettes! ;-)

Apparently there is no room to add photos to this thread - or am I doing something wrong?

Don't click on the little Insert Image thingy when you create a post. You need to have your photos somewhere like photobucket then copy and paste the img code to your thread. Then when you actually post your message, the picture will be there
