Artie has been with us for a week now and is clean overnight and during the day if someone is in. If he is left for even 1/2 hr he wees sometimes poos even if hes been walked. We have got the dog gate in place as the door was stressimg him snd restricted the dogs to the tiled area (quite open plan) go see if that would make him feel more secure and preserve the laminate! I know its early days but its getting frustrating.I have got some rescue remedy today snd am thinking of trying a crate any advice welcome.

Its a wonder where they find those wees and poos when they've been out isn't it I would say see how he goes with the RR and crate and try to stick to as strict a routine as possible with walks, meals etc to hopefully get him settled

No advice different from what Sam said, but good luck wishes that he settles soon.

Sounds like SA and you need to do intensive 'alone training'.

Gizzi used to wee at the bottom of the stairs when I went up there. We just carried on regardless and one day realised the weeing had stopped. It was stress in her case, but as she became more settled it stopped. She likes her crate, but initially did wee in there a couple of times.
We still only leave her for short periods, and not in the crate now, as that seemed to stress her more. Crate good if we are around, bad if not!
2 years since she came to us, so I can't remember when the weeing stopped, but certainly took a few months. She was a very nervous dog then, but now confident in most situations.
It seemed to be taking forever to sort things out, but when we look back it seems a mere nothing. We used Rescue Remedy, DAP collar and diffuser for over 6 months. She is a different dog now so it really was worth it - we love her and she loves us, other people, other dogs, life in general...

Is he a greyhound? The slippy floor may be spooking him too ... they're often not good with slippy floors and if you have things in the kitchen that make noises that'll scare him too Get frozen Kongs, a teeshirt that smells of you and something I wondered about trying .. with horses who hate being in their stable they found mirrors helped them to settle as they thought they had another horse close .. we were going to try it in the kennels but didn't .... you'll need to find a nylon (not glass) mirror (try horsey places like Robinsons COuntry Leisure etc) and put it where he can see it .. maybe at hound level next to his bed and see if that helps him to think he has a friend with him You never know ... Otherwise use a child gate to stop him following you around the house but always only extend the time he's left if he's nicely settled not when he's worried, use Kongs to reward and occupy him when you're not there and make sure he's well exercised - a tired dog settles better If you can introduce him to a crate that can help too. J x

Thanks for every one's input its been much appreciated. After talking to lisa we now have a dap diffuser and serenum tabs which seem to be helping along with everything else. Have had to split the walks as my dogs are starting to protest st the amount of exercise lol lol

I've been wondering how you were all getting on. Glad you've talked things through with Lisa and hopefully with those things in place and a bit of time Artie will settle
