Fab pics, your garden is just so perfect! Please can we have another garden pic mid winter please He looks so settled bless him, hard to think he ended up in the dog pound isn't it, such a gorgeous boy and so lucky to have found a lovely home through Gap.

Now I have 3 loves in my life...... Lewis my husband and gardening!!! (In that order but don't tell the hubby) The garden looks all the better for having a hound in it!
Lewis helped me whilst I was doing some weeding the other day.. while I was kneeling and busy in the sunshine he kept liking my face to cool me down! Then I was tying up some plants and he very carefully picked up the ball of sting and ran off with it going twice around the a tree. I followed the trail and found him grinning from ear to ear !
He is showing his confidence more and more each day. Still a little wary of people but getting used to the noise of traffic. We have started training classes. It was a little scary at first but Lewis managed to do some sits and Lie down a few times. he really wanted to play with the other dogs so got a little distracted from time to time. The leader of the group said he did really well for the first time and thought Lewis handled it really well. We have been practicing and I am now trying to get him to sit , Lie down and stay........ the stay is going to take a little longer I think.
I cant believe we have only had him 10 days... We are going to try a trip to the beach tomorrow.
Thank you for your kind comments. It is lovely to know you are out there and interested in his progress.

Well just got back from our first outing to the beach. We went to Formby Point, Liverpool. It was Lewis's first time off lead and it was great! We walked away from everyone to where we had a clear view and space around. It was fantastic to see him realize he could run and play! He careered off into the water and splashed about. It was quite emotional seeing him racing towards us with a huge grin on his face. He had a great time and we had a picnic in the sand dunes. He's a clever lad, he rolled on his back to eat so his treats didn't get any sand on them. Every day is a joy with this lad....... He is now flat out asleep dreaming of gallops on the sand.

Hi All Lewis continues to do well. He certainly entertains us with his antics. He really has made great progress you would think he has always lived here cant believe it only 3 weeks.. We are going to our third training session tonight...... We are working on the stay command..... we manage about 5 seconds but its a start. Last week he got really giddy and excited...a real move on from the week before when he was a little timid of the surroundings. The trainer suggests I let him have a good run around before the session as she said he has a little too much energy! Anyway he is flat out asleep at the moment after a 3 hour walk so I thought Id spend my time wisely and send you an update.

Yep... mine too but its only grass . Lewis doesn't appear to want to pee outside of the garden. Even when we are out for long walks he goes straight out to the garden on our return and does a wee or poo? This is a new to me as my other dogs wanted to scent mark every few yards on our walks. He does plenty of sniffing and he did do a poo when we were at the beach after a real gallop. Someone has told me to get some of his wee on a cloth and mark some suitable places away from the house and that may encourage him , but I haven't had a chance to do it yet.
It doesn't seem to bother him at all so i'll just monitor things for now.

peggy: Also a brand new greyhound owner, I love her already. It's hard to believe she is 4 years old, I have to keep reminding myself she was in a kennel and not a home. She is a beaut, but goes skits around food, I suppose it was the excieting time of day x
