Hetty has a really bad habit of jumping up on you and air snapping at your face when she gets excited. We've tried saying no firmly and just turning our backs to her and ignoring her (which worked when Jimmer used to do it)but this has created another problem in that she now just goes straight for your back and jumps up leaving large scram marks on my back and shoulders. The other day she ran up to some poor woman and did it to her and she's also done it to my friends husband who was jogging, both were very understanding but it's a problem I need to sort out and quickly before somebody gets hurt. It also means she's going to have to spend more time on lead until it's rectified. Anybody got any idea's please

Me too with Billie, she jumps up and can nip if she's really excited, not as bad as she used to be but still a pain with anyone new she meets Billie is muzzled when she's out as she redirects badly, if Cara gets upset or alerts to something then Billie nips and bites her or whatever is closest, so she wears a muzzle.

Could you try teaching her a strong down command with reward? It seems apparent that ignoring her isn't going to work, so maybe a different command is needed. If Hetty will lie down when told, it alleviates the issue, but obviously this will need to be perfected onlead at first. You could also try leave it. Mayo was very excitable with new dogs when he first arrived, literally spinning on his lead. We were advised by a Behaviourist to teach him the leave it command and that with practice, he would start to look to us for guidance every time we used it. It worked for Mayo so may work for Hetty.
Good luck with your beautiful girl,
Moira x
