Thanks everyone for your replies, we are back at the vet on Monday, I will update after that. I think I will insist on some x rays being done as soon as they can fit them in, she said they could do them under sedation so no need for GA thankfully. I will also ask hwr to check his feet and Pads. i looked again cant find anything except one of the Pads on the sore leg seems a bit hard. Think the metacam is helping but he's still very tentative to come upstairs and just isn't moving the same x

Hi Louise I'd just agree with everyone who said push/demand an xray then at least you can start crossing things off .. I had to change vets when a new vet turned up ..first as a locum she told me my grey had arthritis and colitis - she actually had two damaged discs then when she'd joined the prectice with my current grey she tried to tell me Lucy's blood was too rich and she needed regular blood letting .. Some vets think greys are huge babies all the time but my experience is that when things really hurt they can shut down and seem 'ok' cos they don't react Hope he's ok. Julie

Well we went to the vets and saw a different vet. She found some tenderness on his back and leg. She said it could be a medical issue but could be neurological or orthopaedic. She referred him to the vet hospital for specialist tests including possibly brain scans. Felt quite pleased about this progress however when we came home, Burton threw up a lot in the garden. His back legs then went terribly unsteady and he was falling everywhere, before my husband could stop him he tried to go downstairs and fell right down the stairs it was horrible. I was bathing the baby and heard it but was helpless to do anything. My husband has taken him to the emergeny vets, I had to stay here with the baby so just waiting on any news. He walked to the car which was good but I'm worried sick. I'm just glad the falling down the stairs happened when my husband was here so he could take him right away x

Oh poor boy- a harness is great to keep on him if he can tolerate it so you have something to grab or just help him along ... if he can't tolerate a harness it may be because he has damaged discs in his neck ... just as a heads up ... my bridge girl had damaged discs where the harness lay along her neck and if you put one on her she wobbled as if she was drunk so I use a Trixie harness (recommended by someone on here which doesn't lie on her neck). At least if he's in a referral hospital he should get the tests/xrays he needs but be objective for him ... my bridge girl went to an expensive referral hospital and they didn't diagnose her damaged discs, you're the only one fighting for him .. Good luck with him Julie x

Hi Louise, I only just saw this latest update about Burton falling down the stairs. Is there any news yet? You must have been terrified when you heard him falling but at least your husband was there to take him to the vet. Fingers crossed that he hasn't hurt anything and we'll be waiting for news when you get a chance to let us know. Sian x

Well he recovered after the scary stairs fall, the emergency vet checked him over an said he was ok to come home. I rang our vets this morning and they made an urgent referral to their vet hospital. They phoned and asked me to take him right in and we saw an orthopaedic specialist. He examined him and I showed him the videos on my phone from last night. While he was there he had another episode. He said it was not orthopaedic and seemed to be neurological and like a seizure of some kind. He then collapsed at the vets and wouldn't get up They rang liverpool university vets hospital who said they would see him at 3 as they have neurological specialists and an MRI scanner. Poor love had to be stretchered to the car and then wheeled in on a trolley when we got there. The vet examined him and we got him up and walking but he was very stumbly and disorientated. She thinks there is some issue with his brain and advised it could possibly be a brain tumour or swelling of the brain He has been kept in overnight and they will do an MRI first thing in be morning or urgently overnight if he seems worse. I'm so so scared but at least he seems to be in the best place x
