My mum has been in hospital recently and we have been looking after her little dog, Jack Russell/Poodle cross, a Jackoodle I understand, he is ten years old and without having to go into too much detail I think he will be staying with us for the foreseeable future. Humphrey and Binks have been really good with him, Binks has told him off a few times as he had been putting his nose where she didn't want it, he hasn't been castrated I might add, took him to the vets and the she advised against it unless really necessary, as he has a slight heart murmur.
I keep him separated from my two when I am at work but my question is, do you think it would be safe to leave them together at some point in the future, they show no aggression towards him at all, in fact they both ignore him most of the time and now he has been here for two weeks he doesn’t even bother Binks any more.
He is also a very fussy eater as my mum left food down for him to eat when he wanted and of course we can't do that but I will go into that another time, don't want to bore you with any more details at the moment.
Your comments would be appreciated.
Not sure if this phot will come out or not, be here goes.
Barbara

Thread seems ok. They are all lovely dogs. I personally would not leave them together for the forseeable future. Although they are ok together when you are there if something did happen you could sort it out. You never know the smallest thing could trigger something and it could get out of hand and you would not be there to intervene. Other people may think differently but I would not risk it t this stage just in case.

I'd leave them alone together for a short period at first and then extend it. We have a terrierX (like Sherbert on this forum) and all our foster and other adopted hounds have been fine with her. They always all have full run of the house and we have never had problems. If there is no obvious aggression or signs of any when you are around, then I'd be risking it especially if you think the little one will be a long-term committment.

Thank you both for your comments, things continue to go well. The OH went out to the garage the other eveing to do a small job while I was out, came back on hour later and all was well, both Greyhounds asleep on their beds while Russ was on the stairs awaiting his return. I think we will just build on this slowly but still keep them apart while we are at work as they know the routine. Will let you know how thing progress. Barbara

Hi Barbara, i agree with Ragsysmum, leave them alone for short periods & gradually extending the time. My dog Blue is great with my 2 little dogs (1 is a Jack Russell) and they all get on very well. Just give them time, don't rush the process. Good luck Catherine

Sounds like its all going great don't forget to take precautions when you let them run together in a group, my grey will be lovely with any small dog he's introduced to properly in our home but I'd be more cautious when in any reasonable open space to begin with xx

So much depends on the personalities of all the dogs. My step daughter's corgi cross (Shadow) comes to stay often, and from the beginning it was apparant she was having no nonsense from my four hugely larger greys ,. I agree they may all be fine inside the house, but off lead could be different. Over time I now feel confident Shadow is safe with all of them offlead, but as a precaution when she is with us I muzzle them all just in case. Maryx
