A few days ago I suspected there was a lump behind Bob's shoulder... now I am sure
And close up
It's not bothering him and is only really noticeable here because of the way he is lying (he isn't skeletal either, no matter how much he tells me he is).
Has anyone seen anything like this before? Obviously we'll get him to the vets but we aren't home until the end of next week so any information to stop me fretting would be appreciated.
Thanks

Lots of good wishes for you Cath and of course Bob. No experience of lumps in this area of the body but just wanted to say that early surgical removal of Paddy's lump has helped him bounce back to great health. I know it's easier said than done but keep positive if you can.

It may be a lipoma.. fatty lump. Skye has one in exactly the same place. If it is squishy to feel and you can push it around fairly easily then it could be one of them.
It may also be a insect bite, allergic reaction etc... its hard to know from the pics, but I am trying to suggest some other things to consider so you dont fret too much.
But as with any lump do get it checked out by the vet.
Its hard I know, but try not to worry.

Poor Bobster. Is it hard or squishy?

It's soft and squishy and well defined. It's not sore... and Bob is a complete whimp so if it was painful he'd tell me when I feel it.
It doesn't seem any bigger today so i'm hoping that it's not grown.... I'm just noticing it

Sounds like a fatty lump which will be harmless and go away eventually, but I think it's worth a trip to the vet when you get home just to be on the safe side.

Prime place for a fatty lump Cath. I'm no expert but I work at a boarding kennels and see lots of dogs. Surprising how many older ones have fatty lumps in that area. (not sure how old Bob is?) Hope it's nothing, don't let it spoil your break Helen x

I would guess at fatty lump too. Frankie has several - shoulder blades and a big one on her chest. Try not to worry until you can get him seen by vet. Sending lots of good thoughts. Xx

Thanks guys. Obviously we'll get him to a vet but it does feel like a fatty lump now. He's 6 and a half but seems old for his age- that's with him being so massive and lazy I guess
