This is booked! Whitby, near Tourist Information Centre, 10am - 4pm, Sunday 18th August. It is Whitby Folk Week, which means the town will be very busy, especially if the weather is good. We are not able to use the bandstand this time so I suggest we use the area near the Tourist Information Centre which is just across the road from the train station and is an area most people will walk by at some point in their day. Please let me know if you can take part in this, and if so what hours you can cover. Thanks folks. I realise it's a bit of a way off so I'll put up a reminder a few weeks ahead of it and hopefully we'll get a good group of us.

I thought I'd pop along by train and leave OH at home with all the hounds.... the only way to get there on Sunday morning is to set off at 3pm on Saturday! Whitby really is the land that time forgot

A little reminder that this is next Sunday. I will be there with Vanessa and Polly. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us - not too hot and no rain! If anyone else would like to join us you'd be more than welcome.

Sarah - kept this in mind but wondered if it was going ahead cos of all the problems you've had recently. We'll all be there -if shell shocked after suddenly finding myself sort of organising the Leek collection the day before.I don't how you do it Sarah - utmost respect.Have dogs will travel - and as far as Kizzie is concerned driving Miss Daisy is fab.She might not be impressed at the other end!Are you doing Tombola again? If so will supply whiskey again cos it seemed to attract attention last time.By the way - had a very enjoyable 2 weeks in Whitby at the beginning of June. From previous experience we know the Yorkshire coast can have good weather - Chris's parents lived in Bridlington and we had some lovely times there with good weather.( Not mentioning all the snow and ice we also had). So it's Aug.Come on Yorkshire coast - you can do it!Cath

It will be great to see you all Cath. I was in 2 minds as to whether to do it or not, but life goes on and everyone is well enough now. I'm afraid we can't do a tombola this time. The bandstand where we were last time comes under the remit of the harbour master's office, and they are happy for tombolas or stalls. Dock end, where we'll be this time, belongs to the council and they won't let us! It's a real shame as it vastly increases our takings. You hang on to your whiskey - you might need it after 2 solid days fundraising!

Yay! What a good crowd we'll have. Permit is from 10am so I'll see you all there then. By the way, there is some free on-street parking a few minutes walk from where we'll be situated this time. As you can imagine it fills up really quickly but it might be worth a check when you get there before having to pay. Not a lot of the tourist types will know about it. I'd been going to Whitby for years and never knew about it until my mum moved on to that street! Link to Google Maps: goo.gl/maps/OCko0Turn in to Windsor Terrace (next to train station) and drive along the road until it splits in two - keep to the left. All along that road you can park. Otherwise, here is info in other parking locations: www.scarborough.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=15655I would suggest the Endeavour Wharf one or Marina Back. They are long stay and really close to Dock End.
