Hi,
Just wanted to ask if anyone has used one of these diffuser things and if it worked! Our new girl Lily seems to be suffering from separation anxiety and we're thinking of getting one to see it it works but I've read very mixed reviews on the internet so would like to hear from someone first hand. Thanks. Sian.

Hi, I think that they do work, I've also used the collars too and find them good too. A few drops of rescue remedy also helps xxx

I've not found the diffuser does much but my friend has had unbelievable results with a DAP collar on her dog. He is terrified of bangs, to the extent he's had fits in the past and became very nervous generally. With the collar he is a different dog all the time not just on bonfire night The plug in didn't do much for him, it's the collar that's made a massive difference. People who don't know about it have commented on how much happier, calmer and more confident he seems generally. I'd say it's worth a try .

I found the plug in just made my cat sleep even more!! ;D ;D not tried a collar, but use the spray on a bandana (cheaper than collars) and i think it works for my Milly whippet lurcher on car journeys.

When I stopped using it, after 6 months, I couldn't see any difference. Gizzi still suffers from separation anxiety and we now have a companion for her and we are on the long slow road of leaving her for 15-20 mins per day (I'm retired so can do) and filming her on a tablet while out. The vet said if Dap didn't work that we could try Zylkene but she wants us to try without first. She did suggest DAP though and I might try another refill now I can see exactly what she does without it.

Thanks for everyone's input. Decided to give it a go anyway and see what happens. We've been leaving Lily on her own with Ernie for just over 2 hrs each time a few times a week and like you we've been filming them on a webcam! Apart from the crying, barking and howling nothing much happens and poor old Ern has to put his paws over his head to try and get some sleep! ;D We caught her on the webcam today actually lying on the settee in a full roach position so she didn't exactly look stressed out but then she started crying under her breath whilst in that position!

I use the plug-in and also the spray. My previous Grey was a very anxious girl and it did help.

Dave had terrible seperation anxiety when I first rescued him (he is an only dog) and I tried DAP but it didn't make any difference, I think it mostly just got better with time and him settling in.
