Our neighbours have taken in a jrt as the previous owner died. This little lads developed a bald patch on his throat..It isnt causing him pain or discomfort but i was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this ..I walk him everyday with my dog and he is a real live wire so he doesent seem to be sickening for anything.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That was exactly my first thought too - maybe worth ruling it out first

Not stupid at all they are working on this theory at the moment as they have got him a harness instead of using his collar ,but i havent had a dog with this problem so i cant offer up any advice, and although they havent owned a dog before ,they love the bones of this little fella..and tend to panic if he so much as sneezes ::)Jack is a right little rogue who glories in play fighting with my boy and rolling in everything that stinks!!!!!So i really do welcome any suggestions ,as i can pass them on to Jacks mam & dad to help them.Goes without saying if they cant solve the problem he will be visiting the vet..

My Jake had a bald patch after I first got him but a satin lined collar solved it

If it's not the collar it could be RIngworm which isn't a worm but a fungus .. it's highly contagious and the spores live on anything the animal has touched and then infects whatever touches it next People can get it too ... J xx

My Jessie got a bald neck because she pulled so much on the lead in her rush to get wherever she was going. We used a harness and her fur grew back
