Hi Don't know if anybody has seen this before or has any idea of what it could be. Holly had a free run last Sunday (secure field) and she does run hard and fast and it was very frosty. Anyway after the run she was walking fine but after about 4minutes of walking she looked to have a slight limp. I had a look at her paw and gave her leg a rub but couldn't see anything and after doing that she seemed fine so we continued on our walk. On returning home she held her paw off the floor pointing her toes to the ground but raised. I rested her and it seemed to improve by Monday. By Tuesday though it was back to square one so I took her to the vet. He examined her leg and couldn't feel anything out of place and Holly wasn't tender anywhere. So she had rimadyl and 5 days rest with no walks. There has been no improvement and so she is booked in for an x-ray tomorrow, our vet doesn't seem to have any idea what it is. Holly doesn't seem to be in any pain, she is her usual happy go lucky mad self and walks as if she is about to drag her leg but lifts it, a bit stiffly I suppose, (sorry if that doesn't make sense but it is so hard to describe). It's just when she is in a standing position she will not put it to the floor. I'd be interested if anybody has any ideas. Jill and Holly x

Is he a greyhound vet? She may have tweaked/torn a muscle which greys can do especially if they slip on hard or greasy ground - my bridge girl tore the Gracililus muscle which is high up in their hind quarters and was retired which is a usual injury in racers .... I don't run my dogs if the grounds hard or slippy as they're prone to do daft things like slip and/or fall over .. not good when they go so fast .. My friends grey had to be retired from racing as he was run when the track surface was frosty and I think he had frost burns or little cuts on his feet and they never recovered They can be very stoic, I never worried if my greys screech but I do panic if they are silent as I always think that's when they have really hurt something If he is a greyhound vet then my next check would be with a McTimoney chiropractor .. cheaper than an x-ray and not as risky Hope she's ok. Hi thank you for the replies. Sorry I was a bit vague with the information. Holly is an eight year old Greyhound. Holly went in yesterday for an x-ray and our vet (not a greyhound vet sadly) is saying it is a sprain in her back. She is to rest for a week and has anti-inflammatory and pain killers. I'm praying this will work. If it doesn't I will certainly get a referral to a chiropractor. thank you again Jill and Holly

About 3 yrs ago (before she was a tripod) Gracie started limping after an icy walk. It came and went for a couple of weeks. Vet couldn't find anything but reckoned that she'd sprained something and she then had 2 wks of strict very short lead walks which cured it. Realised afterwards that until then I'd been giving her short lead walks but Tony had been feeling sorry for her and letting her off which was why it didn't get better initially

Do her pads look ok? This is exactly how corns start with my Lizzy. If vets aren't greyhound savvy they don't consider a corn! Just a thought. Hope Holly is soon feeling better
