We've had Trix for just over a month now. When I got her the previous owner told me that they have to have their shots to race on the track but the records where kept at the track and he would send me them.
Originally I wasn't going to take any animal without the vaccs record but I trusted him and to be honest I am so glad I did and took beautiful Trixie home with me.
There is a little problem though.. the previous owner hasn't kept to his promise.
I phoned him a couple of weeks later and he apologised and said he'd get round to it.
I phoned again a couple of weeks a go and he seemed annoyed that he'd rang and just said "I'll get round to it leave it with me".
Am I being impatient? I just want her vaccs records. If she hasn't had them it isn't a problem we can go and get them for her straight away. If we need to put her in kennels (which to be honest I doubt will happen) we would need her shot records.
Also I need her micro chip details so I can change them over into our name. This is probably more important than the injections (as I can just pay for her shots) but if I don't have her chip details I'm worried we won't be able to change them over and it might look like she's been stolen.
What would you do? I don't even know the company she is chipped with. I am thinking of ringing up our vet this morning and getting an appointment for her on Thursday for her vaccinations. Just thought I wouldn't mind a bit of experienced greyhound owner advice on this ..

was it a trainer you had her from? might be worth ringing the track if so for vacc records, as she'd have to have been vaccinated if racing. Also worth contacting the stud book folks (I can't offhand think of their name but can find out if I go look out my girl's book) and getting a copy of the book and changing her into your name. Also if you join Greyhound Data you can update her details online showing you as her current owner.
Are you sure she was chipped? unless things have changed in recent years, they aren't usually. Take her to your vets anyhow to get her registered, and get them to scan her: if no chip, then you can just get one put in.

All racing Greyhounds should legally be chipped so she *should* have one insitu. She will be vaccinated, but probably not for kennel cough which you will need if you do use kennels. If it were me I'd restart her vaccinations, take her to the vet and obtain her chip number if she has one. The only problem you will have if she is chipped is you need the previous owner's permission to change the chip details so it will mean you will have to get hold of them and ask them to change it over which sounds like it will be a pain  Unfortunately chipping companies and vets can be funny and won't just change the details over if you ask them without previous owners permission. I would have a word with your vet and take it from there. |

phone the racing office of the track she ran at and they will give you the info you need all vacs records and chip no etc are kept there ,I have done it with a couple of mine and had no problem getting them.

I'm going to get her booked in at the vets for Thursday for her shots and then see what I can do about the chip. She also has a tatoo in her ear I thought it was a number but it is actually the word lass  . I've just been feeling a bit worried about not having her chip details as the vet might think she's stolen...  flippin' previous owner.. still he has got 80 dogs must get a bit side tracked.. |

It definatly looks like "lass". It would be very strange if it was las5 as the dog I'd been told is 2 would actually be about 8...  |

If she was raced at a Flapping track then they don't have the same rules as racing at a Greyhound track so she may not be chipped. Do you have her racing name? If so you can look her up and find her date of birth that way. www.greyhound-data.com/breed.htm If not, you can find her name from her tattoo and get her details that way. If she is only tattooed in one ear then it is likely to be LAS5- LAS refers to the litter 5 means she was the 5th pup born. The English Stud Book at Newmarket (01638 667381) will be able to give you her racing name and date of birth. Your vet will also be able to give you her approx age from her teeth |

Hi, the Greyhound Studbook is still your best bet for information about the dog. They can get a duplicate ID card for Trixie and can even write to the trainer for his signature. If you are not sure about ringing them, there is an email link here, ask them about the chip details and I'm sure they will be able to help. www.greyhoundstudbook.co.uk/greyhound-stud-book/faq/Read both items about Retired greyhounds, the email link is in the first one.
