Hi everyone...
Today we have found ourselves with another dog...... I know!! we have gone from none to 3 in less than 3 months!
She was advertised for free on facebook cos someone had had her 3 weeks and decided they didnt want her anymore. Carl and I decided we would rather home her even if we decided not to keep her as we could find her an appropriate home if need be rather than some "chav" who saw a chance to mistreat or make some money on a unspayed dog. (as if Carl is going to rehome her he is in love already!!)
She is a whippety, greyhoundy type thing. The Rspca looked at her for us and estimated between 7-12 months old. She is small (but not super whippet small) with the worlds HUGEST ears.
Anyhow Eddison reacted to her in his usual Lurchery way... he looked at her and went back to sleep but Poppy.. well poppy is being odd... not bad just odd.
She has taken to following the new pup around almost herding her. If the new one moves out of formation she will nip its ear or ankle and push it back to being beside her. She almost wont leave it alone. There isnt any barking or unhappiness from either of them but it is very strange behaviour from poppy.
Do you think she could be attempting to mother the little pup? We just seperated them for a little while and Sadie the pup cried at the back door for poppy.
Do we just leave them to it and hope that Sadie will tell poppy if she has had enough? Or that poppy might get bored of the novelty?
