Blues toilet habits are def better i'm only getting 3 a day now, so i'm really pleased to have sorted this out, I thought it was just a greyhound thing, never realised it could be wheat intolerant. I'll look into the gusto, because although, her poos are better, they are still a bit soft to pick up. Thankyou again for all your help xxx

At last! I thought my greyhound was the only one who could poo for england on all four walks a day!Same as some posts here, starts off with a solid one, then gets sloppier and sloppier....rest of family won't walk him! Keep trying all different foods, he is 8, but as he was abandoned I don't know what he ate previously. I am going to try that fish4dogs as he does really like fish. Really glad I found this site!

I feed my dogs (greyhound, dobie & cocker) on Burns dog food because it does not have beet pulp as most foods do.
I knew sugar beet had this effect in horses and my dobie was rather loose. The next time I went to buy dried dog food I read all the labels and Burns Hypo Allergenic Mixer was the only one at my supplier that did not have the beet in it.
I haven't tried the potato instead of rice flavours yet - have they started doing this because rice is becoming more expensive by any chance?

Are you only feeding the Burns Hypoallergenic mixer or are you putting something with it? As the name suggests, it's not a Complete food and won't provide all the nutrients your dogs require. Apologies if I've misunderstood your post, but felt it important to ask and make sure it's not the only food they're getting Moira x

RE beet pulp. This is not a problem if used in horses and is in fact a useful component in your horses feed. It is a big problem if it is not properly soaked or you feed it in very large amounts.

I've changed Blue onto Wainwrights salmon and potato, with a small portion of pedigree chum just for flavour, and her poos have been really good except today, think she has a bit of an upset tummy, OH has probably given her something he shouldn't have but generally if i'm here all is well xx

Glad it's worked If she's still a bit loose I'd change the pedigree chum which is very rich to something like Nature Diet and add a quarter tray to each feed then it's not too dear Julie

Just discovered Nature Diet as an added extra. My grey was runny, itchy, etc for ages when we had her, then when I started her on Burns Pork & Potato the itching just stopped.
While we were on holiday she didn't want to eat at her usual times so I discovered Nature Diet at a local petshop, and she loved it. I feed her 3 meals a day and a small amount of Nature Diet added lasts about 2-3 days and costs 90p per pack.

I used to feed Blue nature diet until I opened one that had gone off it smelt foul. I emailed the company who weren't all that interested, even though the date was 2013, so i've never bought one since. The lady in the pet shop said she has had a few like that. xx

I had a full case of chicken naturediet with several damaged packs, obviously done in manufacturing, a couple of weeks ago. I rang them and they sent replacements no problem. I've had this before, oddly enough always with the chicken ones. I always rip the cover back fully these days so I know it's not growning mushrooms at the far end. Pets at home do similar trays in their Wainwrights range which suit mine too and they seem to have sorted the packaging out better.
