Maddy hurt herself in the garden this morning..she has a gash across her knee and grazed round to her groin. The gash is clean and dry but I'm concerned that she isn't moving around and totally ignored the sound of her tea being prepared Normally she would be there is a flash. Its the first time she has really hurt herself and I am wondering whether its just her being a greyhound wuss, or whether it is something more serious...Any thoughts/advice would be welcome.

She's probably sore and swollen, if you're concerned I'd just get the vet to check her movements tomorrow if she's not better. Knees are a bit delicate, probably better safe than sorry. Poor girl

Trust it to be Bank Holiday when the vet is shut! Tilly is so different, and if she hurts herself, we don't know about it til we actually see it, BUT Maddy IS a greyhound and I know they can be wimps ;D Must admit I have got more concerned as the afternoon has progressed as she just hasn't wanted to move at all

Have you got any arnica in> If so I'd give her some but if you're at all worried I'd ring the vets

Does she seem stiff? Have you got any metacam in to give her? If you get an appt in the morning it might be worth skipping her brekkie just on the off chance they feel it needs an x-ray.

Arntie Moira just came with a camomile teabag! (One of Uncle Ralf's bathing remedies ) Maddy managed to get up to see her but then couldn't get down again and just stood arched and staring She's had a drink and small amount of food so think the metacam is taking effect. She is obviously very sore and it must hurt like hell cos its certainly making her very quiet

Bless her, she's not herself at all is she Poor girl is certainly feeling very sore, but at least you now know she can get up and down, even if she's choosing not to. Let's hope the metacam allows her to have a good nights rest and she's feeling much better in the morning Re. the camomile tea, Ralf has advised us to use it to bathe cuts and grazes to provide gentle cleansing and infection prevention - a very handy tip I thought It's what we'd been using on Daisy's biopsy site when it wasn't healing and still open and it kept it lovely and clean for the 5 weeks it took to close up. Moira x

Maddy went for a wee in the garden and ate some breakfast for Martin at 6am so we know she can move about, but she is choosing to stay in her bed in the kitchen and hasn't ventured out of it since even though Tilly and me are in front room She's had another camomile bathing and another dose of metacam. Must have hit the wall we think as she has a red ring/bruise right across her tummy continuing from the cut.

Just wondering how Maddy is this morning? Hope she is feeling better? Much much quieter than usual (no boinging or chasing!) Bruising has been very colourful and she is still very wary of movement but has been out in the sunshine in the garden quite happily...
