Hi the local (and not so local) faithful York have changed the regulations for street collections and so now we are only able to have one collection that falls on a weekend per year. Would people prefer I arrange one for Spring or a Christmas one? Either way I need to apply now to get a date. I usually go for a Sunday as that seems to fit in with the 'regular' collectors work schedule. I'm also going to write to Monks Cross to see if we can get a collection there, but I have a feeling we won't be able to take the dogs but may be allowed display boards. I'm also going to try for the Big Asda, I've seen people collecting there before but never with animals, but I'll ask. Jo

Jo have you thought of having a collection at York Station? I have no idea how big it is or how feasible it is but we had a really good collection at Waterloo Station one afternoon and it was under cover so a good winter venue. I think York Station is managed by East Coast who you would have to contact for permission.

If you get the York Station one the same week-end as the National Railway Museum are doing Railfest (some time in June) they are expecting 20,000 people a day and the station will be busier at the week-end than it is in the week.

I'll do either but Christmas crowds were wonderful at the Christmas market.
As well as the Sunday collection, what about Whit bank holiday? That's a Monday. I can do days in school holidays as well (not the end of July though). And Leeds is good for me as well if you want to organise something there

This is the letter I am sending to various people
Dear XXX,
I’m writing to you with reference to the possibility of holding a static charity collection for Greyhound Gap - Charity Registration Number 1113207.
Greyhound Gap is a small independent charity set up to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome greyhounds and lurchers who find themselves in a ‘put to sleep’ situation in UK pounds.
Funded almost entirely by donations, we rehome around 150 dogs each year. We can have up to 60 dogs in our care at any one time, in foster homes or in holding kennels awaiting suitable foster homes.
Greyhound Gap operates on a national basis so our dogs can be homed in most areas throughout the UK.
We have a network of volunteers across the whole of the UK who can help physically by: fostering hounds, fundraising, home visiting, transporting and walking our kennel hounds. We also offer the opportunity to sponsor our long-stay hounds.
We are totally self funded and work extremely hard to raise the necessary monies to continue helping these wonderful hounds. It is with this in mind that I write asking if it would be possible to hold a static collection at XXX
I would be most grateful if you would consider the possibility of us holding a collection and would be very happy to discuss it with you further if you would like to.
Yours faithfully
If anyone else would like to use it please feel free

Count me and Nico in Its quite posisble that we would be away in a caravan if any are arranged on a bank holiday but the usual Sundays are fine. If I have enough notice for a week day i'll try to book the day off work. Well done Jo, you are great at this Fran x

Hi Jo I will email pets at home with that. The guy I know is at Foss Islands which I'm guessing is the quieter store but when I spoke to him about it before Christmas he was up for us doing this. Do you have boards and stuff we can use?
