I have been in touch with LUL about collecting with dogs at London Underground stations. The response is that generally 'props' (in our case dogs) are not permitted, but they may be allowed on an 'ad hoc' basis in the larger underground stations. I'm wracking my brain as to which stations may be big enough to allow dogs and thought it would help to open this up to discussion to see if anyone is interested. One station that leaps to mind is Canary Wharf which is busy both mid-week and at weekends. If anyone is potentially interested and/or could make any suggestions on other 'bigger' tube stations please post here Sam x

Are you thinking of the Waterloo Station (overland) collection Cath?
Kings Cross and Euston are the ones that spring to mind for me, Sam. They've both got really spacious vestibules, reasonable access to the outside and are busy intersections. Not been to Canary Wharf but that sounds ideal too.

Jo x The distinction is in the underground station and the mainline station: one is under the jurisdiction of LUL and one Network Rail (respectively). Euston is a good mainline station we may target but the underground area at Euston is not large. The new Kings Cross/St Pancras underground is almost too large and sprawling There are a number of 'undergound' stations which are actually overground with bigger concourses, such as at Canary Wharf so really just trying to brainstorm as I'm mostly familiar with central London, North and East stations....

Westminster has a big concourse and a lot of people going through.
Would you have sufficient people to do Canary Wharf? I wouldn't be able to take Ben that far across town but may just about manage as far as Westminster.
Covent Garden only has a small concourse but there is a huge throughput of people and they have to wait for lifts to take them down so they are a slightly captive audience.

What about Victoria - loads of connections both over and underground. Off hand cannot remember how big the concourse is as it's a while since I've been there.

They definitely won't allow us to collect at Covent Garden, the station is tiny Westminster is a little bigger, and actually makes me think it is mostly the Jubilee line stations which are larger because they are newer, or ones that have been newly renovated otherwise (not many of those ) In terms of numbers, we were only allowed four at the NR stations, so if the same applies to undergrounds we would only need a couple of people to join me and Matt, or a few if Matt wasn't around. Kamkay, Victoria underground is again small The mainline station is one that we are considering making an application for though

I came to the same conclusion about the Jubilee Line. Quite like the idea of Westminster.
Holborn is very busy and has a slightly bigger concourse.

What about Stratford? That is now huge and there is a lovely space between DLR and the lovely Jublee line (Jubilee to anyone else) as well as big spaces near the entrance to Westfield, outside the station. And we could get there and inflict Clyde and Marcie on the innocent, tube travelling public until they gave us money to go away. ;D

Sam I have only just seen this so sorry I am only replying now (hope it is not too late)
I have had a chat with Jon who as you know is a good person to ask about LUL (he started to draw me pictures of stations and ways in/potential collection areas ;D) he has suggested :
Kings Cross - a major interchange station which includes Eurostar travelers crossing over from St Pancreas. Jon suggests new concourse area as this is very busy, large and easily accessible for dogs.
Holborn- often have people collecting at the top of the escalators but not very big. They allow collections at the bottom of the escalator but possibly not with dogs.
Canary Wharf - massive and very busy. Have disabled access so dogs wouldn't need to go down escalator.
Waterloo or London Bridge - both very big, busy and accessible.
Liverpool Street - another large interchange station.
Embankment - very busy , ticket entrance is at road level.
Hope this helps. If you want any more details send me a pm and Jon would be happy to help. Jon has said that if you are given permission for any stations he can access the passenger figures and let you know which will be the most beneficial.
Would love to help at the collection but don't think that I can bring my dogs as they would be completely out of their comfort zone.
Dianne x

High Street Ken may be a good one, its also got direct access to various shops, I'm pretty sure you can get into M&S from the concourse so should have good through traffic - its a while since I've been up that way.
