Just a quick update on the Dynamic Duo. I found out today that Bonnie & Prince ARE brother and sister and were born 1st July 2006. According to the Irish Stud Office the Sire was Bond and the Dam was Honchos Guest. If I am reading the greyhound data website correctly there are 8 other dogs from this litter all of whom were named but our two weren't I was also told by the Stud Office they hadn't been named as well. Don't know if I will find anything out but I have sent an email to the breeder to ask whether there was any reason for the lack of name when they were registered. They never raced officially in the UK - which we already knew - but looking at their pedigree there appears to be some impressive lines there ....... not many ag labs in their family tree that's for sure, unlike mine ;-) BTW Prince seems to have this idea if he only puts three feet on the scales he won't weigh as much. He is a quieter little boy than his little sister and loves nothing better than to doze, unless his lead is moved. Bonnie? Well she's fast becoming a bossy little madam. What she is lacking in height and weight she more than makes up for in attitude, with a Capital A Lol. She's Neil's little girl and she knows it. Both Bonnie & Prince love their cuddles but you have to watch that he doesn't get overlooked for the little one because she WON'T be ignored and can try to muscle in on anything and Prince will let her. Protective big brother obviously lol Love them to bits and soooooo glad they're ours Louise Edited cos I hit the wrong button before I'd put anything on - what a numpty! :-(

Great to hear they are doing so well Don't hold out much hope from Irish breeders , greyhounds are pieces of silver to most of them and if they don't make the grade just pieces of well............. worthless dead meat . Not surprised Prince is the way he is, he sounds like a typical male greyhound - laid back and sooo grateful to be fed, have a comfy bed and loved . The bitches well they can be right madams ;D ;D. Like Mary says dont hold out for any response that is why I would never contact them. The guy they were seized from the kennels tell us had them from puppies so he probably planned to race them and never did anything with them. Its very bizarre though that he was not castrated and she was not spayed and they were kept together for 4 years but never mated. Thank gawd they are a bit classier than that or there would be a pile of 6 toed greyhounds running round left right and center ;D

Well, I think I will do the lottery tonight because I did receive a reply from the breeder yesterday evening It's as we all probably thought, they weren't named because either they wouldn't chase on track or they were too slow to race. Either way, I'm pretty glad that was the case. The breeder thinks they were sold as pups and have probably been with the same person since then. She apologised for not being more specific but it was some time ago. Well, I suppose if you have bitches whelping all the time then it does become a production line doesn't it? Anyway, I emailed back to thank her for taking the time out to answer. Looking at the data there seems to have been 10 in the litter but I may write to the ICC to check if there were any others - surely not - that weren't named. How's this for coincidence? A brother of theirs was rehomed by Caroline at Greenfields last year. He was named as Spy Catcher but his nickname was Ray. There is a distinct family likeness and I'd love to know if he's as stubborn as Prince & Bonnie can be Louise

I didn't realise these two were homed either, so pleased for them and they sound great. One of my Greyhounds is named but never raced although the rest of her litter mates did , I'd love to know why, and how come she was as far as I know a stray.I suspect the scar on her knee could well have something to do with it. She is over from Ireland too.Worryingly her litter mates were racing until Dec. according to Greyhound Data but then seem to have stopped.I really hope they are safe somewhere.Anyway good luck with your two and some pics would be great.

We were the ones who were fortunate to home Ray/Spy Catcher from Caroline on December 2010, I'm pleased to say he's doing fantastically. As Caroline said, he's a real sweetie, quite placid and well behaved and a real pleasure to have around. I wouldn't necessarily call him stubborn, just lazy! As I type, he's spread out on our bed snoring happily. There's some pics of him on the Greenfields Facebook page, and I'd be happyto send you some. We couldn't be happier, and I guess sometimes, there ARE happy endings. Kind regards, John
