2 of my grey's are with Animal Friends, £25/month, 12,000 year cover for life. Luca is insured with Pets @ Home, £28/month, 10,000 year cover for life. Not had to make any claims yet.

Hi I'm the same as Sam Burns was with More Than and have to say they paid out no problems, but on the death of Molly I had to pay for the remaining months on her cover. Then on top of the excess they put a % of the vets fees, 10% to be paid as well even for a young dog. We then changed to NFU and have found them excellent and they have paid out quickly and with no fuss. Good luck and well done on re-homing a Greyhound. Word of warning they (and Lurchers) are very addictive , hence our five. ;D ;D

Im also looking into this at the moment and this is all very useful information!
Has anyone used "helpucover.co.uk" they seen to have a competitive qoute (although Ive not read all the small print yet)? Lifetime cover up to £6000 a year, £80 excess, costs £18 per month, also includes some extras like overseas cover for 90 days.

Not heard of them but be careful as many companies pull you in with cheap quotes and then hike the prices after the first year. Mine are with Pet Plan.

I'm another wth pet plan, I think the main thing is to look for quality of cover, mine are all on 'for life" polices, but as I now have 2 senior dogs, I have a £90 excess which isn't great. Mine also all have ongoing conditions, so essentially I'll always be with pet plan.

Clive, my greyhound is with petplan as well. Not had to claim so far, but he is on the top level of cover. Decided on this after reading and hearing how expensive vets bills can become. You must of course choose to fit your budget, but read the smallprint well. As some people have mentioned £4000 of treatment per year may not be enough. And although it is sad when you can't afford treatment despite having insurance you must realise you have done your best for them. What still amazes me is the number of people I meet with dogs who are not insured, but think either their dogs won't require treatment at some stage of their life that may well cost a lot of money or assume they will find the money to pay.
