I thought it was time I did an update on Clooney who came to join us about 2 ½ weeks ago. He has settled in really well, is good at bedtime and has soon got to know his new routine. Finlay, our 14 year old greyhound has accepted him well and he has also been good with our cats.
He absolutely loves his walks and meeting all the different dogs on the fields nearby and is desperate to have a run with them all, but with his history, this will have to wait a bit longer. He is very popular with the other dog walkers who think he is stunning as well as a really nice natured dog and a few have even offered to take him off my hands. ;D ;D With all the walks he’s getting he is looking a bit more muscular and there’s even a hint of pin bone showing through now.
He was quite nervous of traffic at first even on quiet residential roads, but he seems to be getting more used to it. We need to continue building up his confidence when being left at home, but I can leave him for 2 hours or more without a problem. I think for him the thought of me going out is worse than when I’ve actually gone, as he sometimes gets a bit restless at the times I most regularly go. I assume being abandoned once already is partly the reason for this.
I have had to adjust to having a young dog about the place again. With my other dogs I could leave anything lying about and it would still be there later. I have had to learn that I can no longer put bags of shopping or washing baskets down and turn my back for a split second without them being raided. It’s certainly keeps me on my toes. ;D ;D
I will post some pictures of Clooney when I manage to takes some that do him justice.
