Our local Diabetes UK voluntary group chairperson, held a 'garden party', this year. Her garden isn't huge, but bigger than that of the typical semi.
There was a raffle, on entry, with a bought in first prize of treats, like chocolates, specialist coffee etc, almost new/new stall, books and games, plant stall, stocked by a local nursery's donations and tombola. The village WI had a cake stall, where they split the takings 50/50.
Patio sets were borrowed and tea, cofffee and cake or biscuits were served there, for an extra charge.
All small scale and intimate, but quite a sum was raised.
