OMG! I have just ordered nearly 500 winter bedding plug plants (wallflowers, pansies & sweet williams) to grow on and sell in the autumn. Never grown plants in this quantity before, so ... a) have no idea how we'll find room for 500 plants, or triumph over the giant killer slug gang that marches down our garden every night, despite use of endless nematodes and all other organic devices known to man - and laughed at by slug commandant! b) How long before they will be big enough to sell c) Where I can sell them! Hopefully we are going to do a carboot at some point, but I was hoping to sell some at the autumn GG show till I realised we will be away! Anyway, hopefully they will make a bit more money for all those lovely hounds

How wonderful, good luck with the growing its a lovely way of raising money. Maybe if you can grow some plants for the Gap show in October they can be transported to the show by others, even though you will be away? The car boot sounds like a good idea too.
Good luck ;D

I am going to need winter bedding plants and I was hoping you'd be at the Gap show only to read you won't be.

Do you have a Free2Chat add on to your local Freegle/Freecycle , as that's a good way to sell locally?

Thanks Sam, I was hoping nearer the time that I could maybe ask someone, but they would need to look after the plants for the week before the show. Hopefully we'll get rid of a good number at the car boot before that, it just depends how fast they grow. I'm gutted that I can't go & sell them myself.

Oh, meant to say on the other post, Nettie, kizzeysmum and anyone else who wants plants - if you live anywhere from Manchester down to Stoke, or within driving distance, I can always get them to you

I live in Stoke and am in the process of sorting some tubs, as we've just had the whole back and front lawned.

Hx Hi Dorrie, Unfortunately the plugs only arrive sometime in August, and need to be grown on, I'm guessing for about 8 weeks. I think I'll be selling them in October, which is when you tend to plant them, for flowering in spring, or through the winter for the pansies.

Thanks Lynn,
No problem. I'm coming to the Gap show in October so I will catch up with you then.

Sadly the bedding plants are not likely to be big enough to sell at the GG Show, as the cold weather seems to have slowed them down. Also, we hadn't realised how many trays there would be, and we only have a hatchback. As they obviously can't be stacked, this doesn't leave much space, especially with Ruby in the car. Therefore, I think I'm going to have to sell them, when they're ready, at a local carboot so we can take them in several trips. Sorry if anyone is disappointed,
Lynne
