Bilbo finds a stick "In the wild....." His stupid owner throws it away..... Bilbo looks on in bemused disgust..... No way am I going to get it for you..... I'll just rest here while YOU fetch it. Eventually the humans tire and go back in for a lie down. Their hearts seem to be in the right place. Oh, it's all soooooo stressful.

Lisa - you sweetie you - it wouldn't have happened without you and the team. So our thanks go to you, not the other way around!
Second day we had him we went in to town. Walked beautifully on the lead pretty much to heel with no effort. Came to cross the road and, as I turned - ready to start the "sit/wait" training - he sat and looked at me..... and as my hand came up to touch his neck for a "walk on" he walked across.
Within a week he was recalling to the Acme Thunderer and off the lead in our paddock with no problems - toys with the chickens but no malice. Adores the cat - they walk around the paddock together whilst Sid the Cat (don't ask) shows Bilbo all the interesting mouse and vole runs. Cat always likes to try B's food, shoves the dog out of the way for a sniff in the bowl. Patient dog, our Bilbo.
Geese were a bit noisy on his first run around the paddock, but Bilbo didn't seem to care, zig-zagged past them as if to say "catch me if you can".
He's done a couple of giant antiques fairs and met several hundred dogs/bitches of all sizes and several thousand people. Good as gold unless a larger dog (not bitch.....) comes towards him fast, then he growls. But "leave it" growled at him does the trick (another built in command!).
Clare came around the corner a few days back with a broom in her hand to sweep up some chaff on the floor and Bilbo ran and hid upstairs. Draw your own conclusions. Oh, and he is an opportunistic scavenger of food, regardless of how well fed he has been. Fortunately we had another chicken pie in the freezer..... but as soon as I appeared with the empty foil base in my hand, Bilbo was flat on the deck cringing. Didn't have the heart to tell him off, so we cuddled and I tapped his nose with the foil. Now we just check the work-surfaces before we leave the kitchen. Who cares. Worth it for the fun we have with him.
Next week or two it's the beach at low tide. Do you want more piccies - or was that enough?

Oh - Lisa - vet thinks he is 99.9% good, we took the stitches out on schedule and everything is perfectly healed, all bald spots now have fur growth. If he'd stop wagging his bloody tail, the tip might grow some hair too.....

Do you want more piccies - or was that enough? Now that really is a silly question, of course we want more piccies so keep them coming pleeeeeeeeeeease. Your account of how well Bilbo has settled had me and at the same time, he sounds like Mr Perfect to me (well apart from the chicken pie incident anyway). The fact that he cringes at certain things just makes me , but lets hope that given time he will realise that there is no need to cringe now he's found his forever home. Jackie x

Well - you say it's called "snow" - but what IS it..... Now WHO put a hole here, and why? Frozen water - that explains why it's so bloomin' chilly! So chilly I think I will just lie in it a moment to fully savour it! Er - yes, ready to go in now, it actually IS quite cold.....
