Hi Lisa and Trish and anyone else who remembers Rigsby
Just to let you know that he came to live with me and my 10year old greyhound Tigger last November, we love him to bits and he's a real star!!
He's been clean in the house since he arrived, had his ears boxed by Tigger (not that he takes much notice :=)) and is just fabulous!!! He is very different to my last lurcher (grey/deerhound/saluki/collie) and it's taken me a while to realise that when he's looking out the window he's not missing me he's timing how long he's got to get into the kitchen and steal some food :=))) His recall is great so he's been off the lead since Christmas apart from when he's injured himself rampaging around the local woods .. my vets love him especially when he's sedated ... he had a huge fan club (they wouldn't love him if he stole their sandwiches!!!) and is just the best boy about!
Many thanks to Lisa for all her help, we look forward to seeing other GG dogs at the dog show in May.
Much love
Julie, Charlie and Tigger
PS Will again try to upload some pics but have failed miserably before :=(

How lovely to get an update on Rigsby (now Charlie). It will be great to see him at the Gap show. I was his walker at the kennels for ages. Does he still dig in his water bowl and do those enormous foot scrapes that send clumps of grass flying about 25 metres? I am so pleased to know that the big, soft, clumsy, handsome great lump is ok and having a great life. ;D

Hi Helen and Jackie
Ah I was warned about the water and luckily had the dogs water on a stand :=) but yes he'll usually try to send clods of earth flying!
We're not used to a dog that uses his brains so it's been great fun with him .. he's a real thief and can open doors and thinks everyone wants to be snogged (getting better with that one :=))).
He's such a munch isn't he? He staked himself in the woods in January, I hurtled him off to the vets and when he was being checked (and it must have been really painful) he only growled once then lay on his back to apologise :=( He just makes everyone laugh .. in the vets having Tigger checked we realised he'd gone from the consulting room .. he'd opened the far door and dashed back to reception to kiss a woman he'd not been allowed to kiss on the way in!!
Look forward to seeing you in May :=))

PS Thanks for moving this Helen x

I am thrilled to read that Charlie (formerly Rigsby) has settled into his forever home. I had the pleasure of meeting him at the kennels and he walked me a couple of times when Jackie was on holiday . It sounds like he is a real character ;D . I hope to see you all at the Gap show. Bev

Thanks Bev (and lurcherlot :=)) He's just lovely - especially at the moment as he's had a great walk in the woods this morning and has been completely zonked out ever since :=))
We went to a great talk that Jim Greenwood gave yesterday at Hall Green RGT so I'm hoping to do one of Jim's day courses with Charlie too, ... I used to have a go at Lurcher Disobedience competitions with my last boy and I reckon Charlie'd love 'em.
Any idea what time the dog show starts and I'll run off the details and put them out at our dog club in Birmingham, there's a few of us planning to come along already.
love

How wonderful to hear about Rigsby (Charlie) He was at kennels when we collected one of our fosters and we had a walk with him; I was very taken with his size and his were wolf like back and was suprised by how long it took for him to find his forever sofa. However it was obviously worth the wait as it sounds like you are all perfect together! Cuddles for the gorgeous boy and your Tigger!

Hi Jacqui and all
Thanks for the good wishes :=)) Charlie has really surprised me and he passed his Good Citizen Scheme Bronze Award last night at our Greyhound and Lurcher class ... I knew that he could do the exercises but I wasn't sure that he'd cope ... how lovely to be proved wrong so he now has a big green and white rosette :=))))
I've printed off some Show schedules and the directions and will put them out at our dog club so hopefully there'll be a few of us along to support GG in May.
Off to cuddle the munch and Tigger :=))
