.......don't reputable dog rescues accept dogs back if circumstances change ? I only ask because saw this ad on preloved offering a greyhound free to good home but the advertiser states that he homed it from a 'rescue'. Surely it would be in the dog's best interests to go back to the rescue to be homed responsibly.... www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.showadvert/index-1031715737/23525ac0.html

I can't understand this either!
Our kennels (Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare) have taken back a few 'credit crunch hounds' recently, not to mention family breakdown or death of the owner.
All I can think of is the rescue is too far away or they feel too guilty to return him.
Gits.

Or perhaps they don't know about the returns policy?

That ad doesn't ring true to me. Something's not as it seems.

The dog might have come from a pound rather than a rescue, or maybe the owner doesn't know that he should approach the rescue first...he doesn't say whether the dog is entire or not so it isn't the most comprehensive of ads

I know of a greyhound that was PTS because the rescue didn't want to know when the dog bit the new owner's child.
And one rescue I asked most definitely fudged round the question and certainly didn't indicate they would take a dog ck in the event of problems.
