Jinny Terrier has been here since Friday night and I have been trying to establish a routine feeding pattern.
Up until now she has been used to 2 wet meals a day (gourmet dog food) with access to kibbles throughout the day so she has been helping herself to food when she feels like it. This has resulted in bad teeth. She has also regularly been fed steaks chicken etc.
I have got her some diet food seeing as she's so fat and have been putting down 2 meals a day. I have been mixing a bit of wet food with it but she just picks out the wet food and leaves the rest. I have tried adding some sardines in tomato sauce with the same result.
I know it's just a case of a battle of attrition with her and I know dogs won't allow themselves to starve, but how long can it go on with her refusing to eat before I should be getting concerned. I know she's hungry cos she is excited when the meals are prepared and her tummy rumbles on occasion.
I have booked her into the vets tomorrow as there are a couple of issues I am concerned about in regards to her general health.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I know what you mean Jen, Sammy terrier was exactly like that when he first came here. He had his bad teeth sorted out so there was no reason he couldnt eat dry complete food, but he was not impressed. I just perservered putting down his meals at the same time as the other dogs meals, and taking it up again after he had had a sniff and turned his nose up . He would ideally like to snack little and often throughout the day but with greedy lurchers around that would not be possible. After about a week and a half he started to eat as soon as it was offered but only a very small amount. I now feed him 4 tiny meals a day and this seems to suit him. He always eats most last thing at night about 10pm. I gave up quite early on trying to temp him with sardines, nature diet, chicken and garlic etc because it was getting rediculous so he just has plain boring kibble now every time and now he never expects anything else.
