Ok how do I stop my dogs shitting at night? Could it be all the disruption with the extension? Lastnight we had 5 piles of poo and a wee to get up to, all solid (except the wee obviously ) so no upset tums. I really dont know what to do to stop them. I dont go to bed until around midnight so they go out last thing. Tonight I am going to feed them very late just to try as my carpet must be absolutely minging now Sue

Funnily enough they didnt do it in the caravan, probably cos they were sleeping on mummy's bed, little sods Sue

Mum and Dad have to have all 3 of theirs in with them or them get a mess (or 2 or 3) in the morning. They tried all sorts but it seems to be the only thing that works

They tried all sorts but it seems to be the only thing that works Thats the thing Zoe, we have a loft conversion and the dogs won't do the stairs up there apart from Willow, Mark works away at times and with my back I can't lift them up, especially Joe who is almost 37kgs! I would love them to come up but I know if we let them upstairs they would jump on the kids beds and they wouldnt sleep. The oldies don't like going upstairs either, although I dont think its them thats the problem (well apart from Sasha who cant help it bless her) We have tried Delta and Willow upstairs as I thought these 2 were the most likely but we still got up to a wee and poo's. I think the cork is the next option Sue

What about feeding early, like 4pm? so they get extra opportunity to do extra wee's and poo's before bed?? I sometimes have to go to bed at 9.30pm and mine manage to last till about 6am if I feed than at about 4pm, I don't know if this would work just trying to think of ways to get it out of their system before bed time ...hope you find something that helps xxx

Will be watching this with interest. One of my greys (I'm pretty sure it is Lucy) Has been the same recently. I think it is the fireworks. But I haven't been going to bed until about midnight and I'm up for work just after 5am. There is still a poo and sometimes a puddle waiting for me to clear up. Thank goodness for my trusty mop!!!!!

Me too, but she is a poopie ;D I'm feeding her much later than usual as I was doing a 4pm feed thinking that she would have time to empty, but that deffinately didn't work so now I've gone for the much later option (around 6-6.60) and, fingers crossed, she seems to be able to make it through the night. I've tempted fate now and will be greeted by the largest poo mountain ever seen in the western world tomorrow at about 5.50 am when she likes to wake up

When Trish fostered Mayo, he would often poo in the night, so she started to feed him at 8pm. We now feed even later at 9pm to fit in with our routine better and he's always been fine. If you can't resolve it soon you'll have to have an upstairs lounge and sleep downstairs with the hounds Moira x

I am another one who will be following this with great interest. I am now giving mine their evening meal between 9 an 10pm whereas we used to feed them between 4 and 5. I've guestimated that Ruby (the toilet challenged one) wants to poo shortly after eating and then again in about 8-9 hours. So far this seems to have helped reduce her "accidents" over night. Is it possible to get rid of the carpet? If there have been regular accidents for some time it probably still smells like a toilet even though it's been cleaned (to the dogs I mean!) That's what we're thinking of next - even though we are renting! Alternatively how about getting 6 crates?

I think you are going to have to move to a bungalow, then they can all come to bed!
