Hi Johanna, have only just read you're thread you sound as if you are doing a really good job with lad.I have a big black Greyhound male called Suggs he's 3, he's very nervous in social situations but a complete numpty at home We homed in July 07 and he was our first hound on Boxing day 07 we homed Molly(then Vicky) a 10 year old Gap girl. She is 11 now and has brought Suggs out of his shell so much.We had previously had rescue Border Collies for years and thought we were dog savvy but soon found out Greyhounds are not like other dogs but would never be without one now.We have learnt a tremendous amount from both the Gap forum and the one for the Rescue we got Suggs from, and made some good friends. The rescue we homed Suggs from is fairly local so we meet up for monthly dog walks etc, unfortunately we are quite a way from the majority of Gap people but they have given really good advice and support as you are finding out for your self. Keep up the good work with your beautiful Black boy.

Hi Johanna,
Sounds as though everything is going really well with Lad, just one suggestion and that is that you don't mix raw with carbohydrates in the same meal so skip the rice and kibble, dogs digest these at different rates and it would be easier on his system if these are fed as separate meals.

Hi Johanna,
I've just been reading your thread about Lad. He sounds a lovely boy. I wish I had known this place existed when we first got Blue in January. It's great to have the support network.
How is he settling now? Is his poo still ok?
I know that you said he wasn't affection ate yet, but please bear with him, it will come. I remember thinking that Blue didn't seem too bothered about us. He seemed happy not not affectionate. Then one day my other half was singing a daft song, and the very end of Blue's tail started twitching. This developed into full blown singing sessions with him, and he started bouncing all over the place. It was amazing.
Now he is the loveliest dog, who will bound about like a nutter, but only when it pleases HIM (breakfast and tea time usually). He comes to work with me every day, and just lies by my feet gazing at me! It's a 2 way love affair, having a greyhound is honestly the best thing I ever did. Also the hardest (we've had our ups and downs) but definitely the best!!
Michele and Blue x
