I was wondering if anybody has used bioflow collars and what do you think of them?
Sherbert is nearly 9 and has arthritis in both wrists and his hips. We've always managed to control it with supplements (glucosamine and condrontin) but but at the moment he's suffering quite badly and we're having to use metacm.

Yes, I bought one on recommendation from Anna cos it had done wonders with Chloe. Goldie seemed to be slowing down and would scream in pain on occasion when she got out of bed. She has had her collar for months now and I've had no screaming and she seems a tad more playful (she's a bit of a grumpy creaking gate so that's not very playful at all ) Would recommend them. They're not cheap but have a lifetime guarantee.

One of my hounds has been wearing a Bioflow collar for 4 years - there's no way I would take it off, he's been so much more comfortable. ;D

Definately try one, but make sure you buy the right size. I bought one for Tommy when I was fostering him, it realy helped him but was so large I had a mile of collar left to tuck in

I'm sure I've seen somewhere that they shouldn't wear them if they are microchipped.

I'm sure I've seen somewhere that they shouldn't wear them if they are microchipped. So long as the magnet is worn at the front of the neck and the dog has been microchipped in the normal position between the shoulder blades this should not have any effect on the chip.

Well Sherbert has been wearing his for about a month now and although he still has the glucosamine supplement, he no longer needs metacam and there's been no sign of any discomfort or limping for sometime and he's been able to play with Jimmer again ;D

Vicky I would suggest you Google for the best price on offer at the moment, although I think they are probably much the same wherever you choose to shop. The large size dog collar is around the £28 mark so not cheap, but worth it if it works for River. Just out of interest has anyone any experience of these hound collars? I came across them whilst Googling so thought I would share with you. www.biopulse.co.uk/ This is what they have to say about them In magnetic therapy treatment built into our Greyhound collars, static magnets are used which, unlike electromagnets have an in-built, permanent magnetic field that never needs replenishing. Any static magnets would influence blood flow but it is how the magnets are laid out that will determine the overall effectiveness.
All magnets have a north and south polarity and the most effective magnet design uses concentric circles of alternating polarity as this allows the magnetic field to penetrate deeply into the body tissues.
This system of concentric disc and annular magnets made of the rare earth Neodymium turns the configuration into an Induced Pulse Magnetic System ( IMPS ) and has been patented by us at ROMO. They certainly sound interesting. Jackie x

Well, very strange but since River had his broken tooth out and the X-rays showed very bad arthritic changes he seems to be moving much better Used the bioflow collar since sat but he seemed better before I put it on so not sure how much is the collar is helping, but am not taking it off to see! he seems more comfortable and jumps on and off the sofa more easily than for ages. Have reduced his rimadyl as he seems ok and vet has left it up to me to alter dose depending how he seems. I would agree, they are enormous, ordered large but small would have been better.
