Leo is around 18mnths old and is bull x greyhound he recently landed in our care after being rescued from a stray pound environment. Leo is an adorable boy who came from a stray pound and has all his basic commands ie sit, leave, paw etc and walks well on leash if told and put into a heel. Leo was a bit growly and defensive with entire males when he first landed but was fine with castrated males now he has been castrated he has been fine with all dogs. Leo again being a young dog will require someone around all or most of the time. He may need help with housetraining however I do get the impression that he has lived in a house before. Before landing in our care its safe to say that Leo has known a cruel hand. If we have ever had to be firm with Leo he is very submissive and will drop to the floor, however, he is starting to learn quickly that life is getting better and is offering up lovely cuddles and kisses. Leo needs someone with patience and time to devout to teaching him life is good and who has the capabilities to be firm but fair. We do believe from the amount of training that Leo probably has been in a home before ending up in the pound.

I think Leo looks a real sweetie, would Cornwall be too far away for a foster home ?

Hiya Leo is still in the kennels BUT needs a foster home without other males in and someone who is use to working with food possesion. He is still quite strong on leash.
As there are things with Leo we are still over seeing we would prefer for him to be in foster nearer to us here in Stoke incase we need to do some work with Jim.
Leo is a lovely natured lad and once he knows you totally adores your people he literally would die for you but can be wary of strangers so a foster carer would need to get to know him first.

Leo will love you if you offer him tuna brownies! He's a bit of a comedian and a wonderful hound.

Well 2 1/2 years in and we have finally turned a MASSIVE corner with this boy. Today we deemed him safe enough around strangers to move him away from the safety of the kennels walk and get him out into a big busy country park. The place was teeming with walkers and dogs and Leo was PERFECT. He greeted other dogs nicely if a little over enthusiastically but no malice and wanted to play. He was lovely with two puppies we met. Had Trish holding on a couple of times when dogs were playing in the water as he so desperately wanted to join them to play with them. Strangers came over to say hello to us and although he didnt give them eye contact not one bark, growl or lunge he stood beautifully. At one point when he greeted one of the pups the owners were sitting on a bench. He was so desperate to say hello to the puppy he showed no apprehension with the owners being there and went straight over We were so proud. You can amazingly see that worried look he has carried for 2 years starting to disappear now in his eyes and a much more happy relaxed and confident sweetheart creeping in. Another few months and I am pleased to say I think he is ready to move into foster and will probably go to Trish when that happens. Our never rehomable, volitile little loon bag is finally moving onto that final stage and I am now positive he will be rehomable in time which is fabulous! Some photos from his day... Rolling around in the grass Face washing a very important job Unmuzzled and happily standing with Prudence Showing off just how well he is looking Those eyes so much more mellow, soft and alive Sharing a ball in the kennels kitchen happily again notice no muzzles Stunning soppy boy Standing proud and behaving like the big soft tit he is turning into How long is to long in kennels? If a dog is happy and thriving NEVER. So much easier to wait 2 1/2 years in kennels with love and affection being allowed to work up to the big world at your own pace than forced out and make a mistake. Proud of you dufus so very very proud!
