Late January 2006 I made the mistake of confessing to Lisa that I had made enquiries about an elderly greyhound who had spent too long in kennels – big mistake!! Her immediate reaction was ‘You don’t want that one, you want our Betty!’ Given some of the comments on her rehoming thread, I was worried that she might find this house a bit chaotic…
Betty would love a quiet home as an older persons companion or would quite happily co exist as part of a pack, she enjoys the company of other dogs and they dont bother her at all.
After three weeks of persuasion on Lisa’s part, I plucked up courage and took Otis to meet Betty at Wanda’s house, where she was being cared for. Otis behaved like a complete idiot (scarified the lawn, stole food, sang, farted, lay flat on the floor and panted like he had run a marathon, ran round the paddock and fell on his head, pounced on the poo bag I left by the gate, etc, etc) and I could see Wanda thinking that ours was the last home on earth Betty should be entrusted to! We tried to phone Lisa for her take on whether I should bring Betty home for a trial, but Lisa was OUT!
So with my heart in my hands (well, her paws, as I was smitten from the moment I met her) I brought her home, and she is the most true delight, the light of my life. Not a day goes by I don’t thank my lucky stars that she is here with me – love without measure, a jewel without price ;D
Thank you so much Lisa, for knowing how perfect she would be I will always be grateful for your pestering!

Betty is doing really well, she is growing in confidence daily & will now accept fuss readily whereas before she could be a bit reserved. She can't really run because of her wonky back legs but manages a lolloping jog or fast trot.
