This is Madge (in her usual position ) What a babe, eh?
Madge has only been with us for two and half weeks but it now seems like she's always been here. Well, for the people in the house, not sure JoJo would feel the same way
We started looking at GG after we lost my collie x, Remus in February and decided we couldn't be without a pooch. Mum and Dad wanted a small terrier but I convinced them to think about a lurcher or greyhound. We got JoJo from a different rescue but I had been in contact with Lisa via email about getting a hound from GG. Soon we found ourselves addicted. We started to think about getting another hound, so i called Lisa after Mum and Dad had a chat with Lurcherlot and Lisa suggested Madge may be the dog for us.
Very soon after Anglea (aoj) came to do our homecheck and then Mum and Dad travelled up to Derby to collect Madge. She has been a perfect angel, just as Lisa and Kerry (Madge's foster mum) said she was ;D. She has been clean in the house, is teaching JoJo dog manners and is fast becoming a cuddle monster. We all love her to bits - even JoJo
She has settled in so quickly and well and has literally become part of the furniture. It took her less than a week to settle into our routine and is really enjoying her walks. She quite often trots along to keep up with JoJo now, which I never thought would happen (Yes Kerry, she has more than one speed ) . Her and JoJo have become inseperable , she was most upset that I took him to his dog class and she got left with Mum on Monday and he wasn't too keen on being away from her either, even if he did pretend to ignore her when we got back They have been off lead together in an enclosed park and generally walk very nicely, unless there are squirrels or cats around, but even then she usually just barks a couple of times or has a little bit of a whine while JoJo is flying around like a lurcher shaped kite at the end of the lead
Madge being here seems to have calmed JoJo down slightly and I think a bit of his bounciness is wearing off on her. She struggles a little bit with getting in and out of the car and can be very stubborn if she doesn't want to do something (like get up for her walk in the morning ) but on the whole I'm pretty sure she's one happy girl. And we're glad to have her
We were so lucky that the right dog was waiting for us when we were ready for number 2 hound. It's great to know that you can call Lisa and talk to her if you have any concerns or worries or problems and she is always there to help.
Big thanks to Lisa for picking us as Madge's family and to Kerry and family for looking after her before she came to us I know it must have been hard to let her go and especially at such short notice and to Angela for coming all the way here through awful traffic to do our home check.
If you thinking about getting a Gap dog all I can say is DO IT, at least twice
