Our wonderful Sonny Sunshine has been with us since June and we couldn't ask for a better hound. Thanks Liz for all the work you put in when he was your foster boy.....you did a grand job and he couldn't have turned out better. We love him to bits just as you did and feel so lucky to have him sharing our lives.

We homed our first Greyhound Suggs in 2007, he was an extremely nervous boy but gradually started to come out of his shell. We enjoyed him so much we decided to re -home another and decided a bitch would be nice. After logging on to Gap we saw Vicky (now Molly) and she seemed a lovely girl and cat friendly too.She was 10 at the time ,this didn't worry us at all ,as by now Suggs was becoming quite boisterous so an older, steadier Bitch was very appealing. I rang Lisa and she spent ages talking to me, asking about Suggs and giving me advice too which was much appreciated. She thought Vicky would be a good match as she was confident and would be good for Suggs. How right she was, by the end of the first day the difference in him was amazing, I couldn't believe how well they got on.Molly is a fantastic girl she's 11 now,and as Lisa and Jackie called her a batty old bird, she's very eccentric but in a lovely way. Suggs keeps her young and she keeps him in check I have had so much back up from Lisa, Jackie Mollys' fab foster mum and people on this forum. Molly was the perfect dog for us and companion for Suggs we love her so much, I didn't realise how much oldies have to offer until we got her.We too would like to foster in the not too distant future as I see it as a way of giving something back as well as a way to share our home with more of these wonderful dogs, before we're too old lol

I adopted Jonti at the beginning of October. He is blond rough coated Lurcher. He is a smashing dog. We are getting used to each other and I am losing my nervousness of him. I hadn't had a dog for many years so was a bit out of practice. When he used to come up to me and bark in my face, I was a bit intimidated and nervous: I used to ignore him as long as I could and then get up and walk into the other room and pretent to be busy! I am used to it now and just tell him to B.....r Off. Also he now gets down from the chair and goes downstairs when I tell him. He growls under his breath all the way down the stairs but I'm used to that now, he's just grumpy!! Jonti has repaid me a thousand fold with his company and I never tire of seeing him rush round the garden at ninety miles an hour when he's having one of his barmy moments. We have been to training classes and he has his bronze certificate, He was extra well behaved the day of the test and decided that for once he wouldn't show me up and fall asleep half way through the lesson. We go on long walks at the weekend and unfortunately, because I work, we walk in the dark during the week. As soon as we go on our walks, he forgets everything he has learned at dog school and is just interested in looking for something to chase! Hey Ho! I wouldn't be without Jonti, even though it means that now I have to get up a six in the morning to walk him! he is a lovely old boy, his enthusiasm for games took me aback a little at first, I didn't know if he really meant the growling for me, but now I know he is just playing, he's a Silly old dog! I am still unsure of letting him off the lead. I have done it once and he went off, not too far, but he really did seem to have the attitude "If you want me to come back you'll have to walk over here". That may be just a man thing. We are working on our recall so I hope that he will be off lead very soon. When we snuggle up in front of the fire in the evening his eyes roll up as though he's in heaven and it seems as though he's been with me forever. Jonti's Mum- Meg

[C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia Allen\My Documents\My Picturesfebo7\cromwell etc\IMG_0774.JPG /img] Cromwell has settled in unbelievably well. He is so polite in the house and was a doddle when we visited my daughter; sat on his mat and went to sleep. She has a fully fenced garden, and we had a lot of 'mad dog'. (My garden being further secured for jumping dogs) He has at last begun standing up to the cat, whose nose is out of joint, especially as Cromwell has taken over the bed with the view upstairs. I am getting fit again at last, with so much walking. He was spooked one night when we went along the edge of the woods and some amorous badgers were making very loud whoopee. Still a little bouncy when we meet other dogs, but improving. Still 'grummels' at them until told to stop - other dogs generally don't worry too much, but the owners are unsure. Can be left for a while with no worries. Still trying to sort out his habit of standing up in the car so he can see everything.

Hi, We adopted Millie last December and WOW!!! what a gorgeous girlie she is. My 15 year old son is beside himself with joy and Millie is like his shadow-they go everywhere together!! A pity Millie couldnt help him with his Mock GCSE exams last week!!! She has settled in so well, from the very first day she was very thin and frightened, but settled straight away into her bed-a huge duvet!! She is loves her walks and loves it even more when any of us come into the house from being out-she leaps around making noises and fetching us her toys to play with. Thank-you Lisa for all the invaluable help and support we have had. From The Trudgetts.

Hi there, We adopted our beautiful girl Tilly, (formerly known as Panda) on August 4th 2009. From start to end, the adoption process was fully supported by Lisa. We were looking for a lurcher, as we lost our old girl in June, and loved the gentle loving nature of these dogs. We rang Lisa on July 20th to ask her to let us know if a suitable dog came into the Gap's care, and after a bit of a giggle from Lisa, she informed us that a possible match had come in from the stray pound only two days previously! After telling us about her, we couldn't wait to meet her and arranged a couple of meets the following week. In the meantime we had our home check and it was felt that our garden fence could do with being higher so my husband spent three days handmaking some sturdy trellis to extend it another 3ft! We took our caravan to near where Panda (Tilly) was in kennels and took her out for a couple of afternoons and felt she was indeed the one for us and couldn't wait to make arrangements with Lisa. It was arranged that we could collect her after she had been spayed the following Tuesday! The next few days couldn't pass fast enough! Sure enough, Tuesday came and we collected Panda (Tilly). She settled in at home really quickly and Lisa rang every night til the end of the week and then after the weekend to see how we were coping! Tilly was such a good girl and as she was so settled we took her on holiday to the North Yorkshire coast after only 5 days, it was as if she had always been part of the family! She met my daughter's springer spaniel and they got on really well which was really important as she comes to stay occasionally. At the moment we are going to training classes mainly for socialising and recall, but she is so keen to please us..she's great! We met Lisa at the weekend at the Gap show, and it was very reassuring to see that she knows all the dogs so well, and is always there at the end of the phone to help should we ever have a problem. I cannot thank Lisa enough.. you are a star!

Hi Just to say I too adopted the delectable Pansy (now Issi) and she is a dream (so far) although she has already chewed through my other dogs lead!!!!! She is good at night and seems to be housetrained as long as we remember to put her out regularly. Only got her on Sat pm and have already managed to leave her twice for 2hrs without a problem - does it get any easier? Thanks to Lisa and Trish for all your help.

Hi 'Madmaggie'.. She sounds great! We've got Panda (Tilly), the post above you.... we've had her 2 months now.. she has been really easy to settle and we find any little problems that do arrive are soon remedied as Tilly is so pleased to oblige! She used to be really excited when she saw other dogs on the lead but thats fine now. The only thing we are working on at the moment is that she steals food!!!! She has eaten my husbands dinner and also a box of eggs! Apparantly its a common problem.. just have to remember to put things out of reach. I leave Tilly when I go shopping and she is fine.. Altogether life is just great! You'll have a lovely time with Pansy (Issi)! Janice

Hi all, We adopted Millie nearly 1 year ago on 13th Dec 2008-she is the most amazing, beautiful, funny, lovable, adorable greyhound ever!!!!!!! She is so settled it is unbelievable and she is loved by so many people. My son Daniel is now 15years old and they adore each other. I cant describe how perfect Millie is for our family and I would strongly recommend anyone reading this to have a greyhound because they are adorable. She is in such a good routine, she is a lovely weight and her coat is glossy. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you to all at Greyhound Gap for the perfect greyhound-if we didnt have a cat, tortoise and horse we would definitely have another greyhound!! Thanks and sorry its been so long to write this, Sara, Mick and Daniel Trudgett.
