Sorry not sure if this should be posted here as the dogs are ok in the pound at the moment, but they looked so sad, I had to do something for them. Unfortunately I am going away for the next few days so I can't keep an eye on them.
I have just come back from visiting my local dog pound in Cardiff. There are 2 lurchers and a greyhound, all male, that have all been there since November :-( If I remember rightly (will remember to take a pen and paper next time!) the greyhound is a brindle colour, one of the lurchers is brindle and white - had some greyhound in him, and the other lurcher was smaller shaggy/slightly curly coated fawy and white chap.
Thankfully they have about half a dozen kennels empty at the moment but I can't imagine that it will take very long to fill them and I'm just worried that as they have been in their so long that they may become urgent cases.

Tracy is this the pound that WendyJ works quite closely with? You may be best to have a word with her! I will leave the thread here for now but unless the dogs are in immediate danger ie pts then the chances of us being able to get them moved out at the moment are quite slim as there are a few dogs in immediate danger that are being sorted! If you could find out more details that would be great or private message me the number of the pound and I will give them a ring and find out more details If they have been there since November and are still safe the chances are that they wont be planning on pts ing them but we could do with double checking

Hi Tracy and Lisa Sorry, this is not the pound that I have links with. It is run by someone called Alison and I don't think she is even speaking to me since the day I had a shout at her because she wouldn't take a stray greyhound from me. So I doubt if she would work with me. But I'll get someone else to ring and find out about what's in store for these dogs. They might come from the gypsies, of course. Where are you based, Tracy? Wendy
I live in Pontypridd. I occasionally go to the Cardiff Pound if I am over that way but I must admit I don't like going there as it upsets me too much. I will try and get the phone number and give them a ring.

Thanks, Tracy. Would you let me know, please, if we need to get them out sharpish. Don't know if there are any fosterers free at the moment. Best wishes Wendy

Wendy/Lisa I have found the phone number of the Cardiff Dogs Home but so far I haven't been able to get an answer I'm going away for the next 4 days, could someone try ringing the pound to check that these lads are safe? Cardiff Dogs Home (029) 2071 1243 Thanks Tracy

Have not been able to get through! I talked to an operator and thry think there is a fault with the line!!! So I will keep trying till i get through! When i delt with them before i got the "money, money ,money!" imprestion, they wanted payment for any dog befor it leaves! It very much felt like they would rather pts a dog than give it to a rescue! But i will keep trying! If anyone can help please post here! Wendy and i are going to do all we can for these dogs!

I do hope so! But when i was there they were "selling" dogs to anyone! Even if they were very obviously not suited! They were very over crowded in the kennels and the rain and wind comes through the roof! I asked what happened to dogs they couldn`t re-home, they said they stay till they get rehomed! I wonder how many dogs give up? or got to homes that beat them race them or fight them? They do no home checks or anything! Just pay your money, fill in the form and take your dog!

I'll ring them tomorrow with an assumed name. They may be closed of course. I can't really foster one because I shall be fostering Bertie from Saturday unless one of you lovely people will offer him a forever home, pleeeeeeease. Best wishes and a Happy New Year Wendy

They did say to me they don`t pts, unless there is medical reasons, but they wouldn`t tell me where dogs go that have been there along time! None of the dogs had been there more than a couple of months when i was there!

I have managed to talk to somone in the pound at 9pm tonight! And the dogs are all still there from what i could gather! They say they don`t hand them over to rescues! But they could be brought out! As this place is so bad and they sell dog to anyone we are thinking of trying to get these dogs out! If anyone can foster or take on to rehome please let me or wendy know! The prices to buy a dog out "start at £59!" If anyone is interested in anyof these dogs! Please don`t ring the pound unless you want to adopt or rehome one of these dogs! The man i talked to had been on the phone all day with people "wasting my time!" And we don`t want to lose the bridges built with this pound! Thanks Cookie P.s Happy new year all!
