[shadow=red,left,300]TEXT[/shadow]Hi Although there is much about the situation in Eire regarding unwanted greyhounds, the situation is the same in the North. Things are absolutely desperate there and very bleak for any greyhound found womderig the streets... Most councils in the North have an immediate put to sleep policy for any greyhound found. This is because they have literally NO CHANCE of being rehomed as pets and even less chance of anyone coming looking for their lost greyhound. Northern Ireland is [still] part of the UK and we take greys from England to Scotland and vice versa, so we need to consider what we can do to help any greyhound in Northern Ireland. Rescuing the odd grey from there is really just plugging the leaky tap. What we need is a campaign going to promote greyhounds as pets in the North and help rehome some of these dogs there. We could also do with a greyhound action campaign going there too. If anyone lives in Northern Ireland or knows anyone who does, please consider helping. I have connections in the North including a dog rescue that wants someone to join them and focus solely on greyhounds. I can lend advice and support and even practical help on occasions. I am in the process of a massive research project at the moment for the Scottish campaign which will include a huge part on NI... when this report is produced I will ask Lisa nicely if I can post here Anyone with any info about greyhound racing or retirement or any stories of how dogs have been found would be appreciated! Thanks! Ax

Im posting this here at request of Amanda (amjamwe) If you know of any contacts in Northern Ireland who you feel could help with the situation please email her at greyhoundactionscotland@btopenworld.com or pm her via gap! Until there is a channel open then people on mainland Britain are limited to what they can do as without no safe route out the dogs are in desperate danger.
Hi
I posted a few weeks ago and nothing has come of that as yet. Things have now gone a stage further and our route for getting some greyhounds out of Northern Ireland has now been blocked with three greyhounds being destroyed when they were found in the pound. A full detailed account of this will be on our website very soon.
Meanwhile I am appealing again for anyone in Northern Ireland to help out with the greyhound situation there.
If anyone knows of anyone that may be able to help, please email me / phone
Thanks again Ax
I will also add a copy of this onto Appeals
